Turns out that our "Fire Truck Red" powder coat is a dead match to the Brembos -

Everyone does of course. The hard top is on the way.

I've installed both (BBFW RZ and HD M4). The M4 is less robust than the RZ, less bracing under the plastic covers, and less reinforcement on the major mounting points. The biggest issue with the M4 is that it has no provisions to mount the rear plastic panel to the bar. I didn't drive either of the cars I installed the bars on, but I have to believe that the M4's lack of mounts for the entire rear bulkhead panel will cause some pretty serious rattles down the road. The RZ bar has mounts for the plastic in the right spots, so everything fits and fastens down as intended.

Man, this torn top strap issue seems to be a lot more common that I thought it would be. There is a lengthy topic on it on M.net. My dealer thinks they are just going to be able to order a new strap and put it in. First of all, there is no room, unless you remove the whole top from the car. Second, it ripped out from rivets into the frame, so I don't know how they will deal with that.

I put it down nearly every time I am in the car. I bought it because my 06 had a hardtop only, and my 01 hasn't been running for months and I missed going top down in it.

I really would not recommend buying an ND at this time. With the top issue and the transmission issue still being a big question mark, I am really regretting my purchase.

I should've kept my hardtop 06 and got my 01 running again for the convertible experience...

Oh shush. You'll change your tune as soon as you get to drive it more.

Billet Coaxial Mounts for the ND are in. Standard mount is 12mm shaft adapters and 2.25" spring locators. Optional 10m shaft adapters for other brand shocks.

I have 500 miles on it in 10 days of ownership. I have been driving it every chance I get. It is just the feeling of brand-new, expensive purchase having looming powertrain issues, especially if I mod it, and a piece breaking LITERALLY the first time I operated it. I am stingy and buying a brand-new car makes me pissy about little things like that.

Nah, I hear you. Although with the powertrain issues, I don't believe modding it has any effect. Several have broken at stock power, and many have broken in easy driving. It's not an engineering issue, it's a metal issue and doesn't affect all cars.

In other words, I really wouldn't worry about it.

The strap thing is a bummer, though.

I totally get it too: making a huge purchase and then having to deal with issues when the whole point of buying brand new was to avoid any and all issues is frustrating.

With that said, it's not like they're denying warranty claims or telling people it's normal. They're working on figuring out and fixing the issues, right? So it's just a matter of dealing with annoyances of dropping car off for repairs, waiting, picking it up, etc.

Right? (perhaps I'm missing something here).

As for the regret, most people wonder about that. Just drive the car in anger and the smile on your face will overwhelm the doubts and fears
