Sean sent me a message with a tracking number. So excite, but I don't know why.

A couple packages show up. One was oil I ordered, another from overseas, so the small one must be from Sean. Might be a side project??

What is even happening

OMG

I was so confused and amazed and confused and happy. What is going on?

Sean finally reminded me of an order I had made, apparently through the SADFab order submission Form.

I completely forgot I did this, and since I already have most things SADFab offers, I wrote in German chocolate and toffee cupcakes.
I just thought Aidan was just needing folks to try it out. Never received a confirmation, so out of sight out of mind.

SADFab delivered, and tried to meet my needs. Wow. This completely made my week!!

Thanks again for sharing your design! It was easy to import into Mastercam for the thermwoood. Hopefully I can figure out mounting soon, then seal it and paint it or wrap it somehow.

Im about halfway through the birthday chocolate. It's really fudgy and delicious, but very rich so picking away in moderation. Haven't tried the other yet

Big shout out to @kmo25 for allowing me to use his leakdown tester, and showing me how to do it. I was told the rings where toast, but when we tested cylinder 2 it sounded like it was hissing out the exhaust manifold. We couldn't replicate the evidence from the crank side by listening to the oil cap, dip stick or catch can. When we unbolted the downpipe, we could hear the pitch change as we cupped and manipulated the outlet of the exhaust housing.

Luckily I do have that baller head on standby. But I won't have enough time to swap and retune before MATG. Right now I pulled the EBC and only plan on running wastegate which still feels amazing, but sparingly. I don't know if I can #sendit to MATG like this. Should i just try having a shop assess and rebuild the existing head and sell the baller head, or just bite the dust and ask a builder to help with ensuring I don't smash valves with Tomei cams.

After I had to replace some plug wires, I took off for a cruise with @Shibby and another buddy.

I honestly have little room to log for all of it. It may be safer to fly Vlad out and book dyno time.

glad its not your bottom end, looks like youve got some leaky valves which is still shitty but a better alternative to piston ring wear.

I don't know... Where is the point when one admits that a car designed for 145 HP isn't probably take more than three times that power for very long, and tunes down to quick-but-driveable 300-350 whp?

The six speed is the only thing holding him back, no? The motor lasted like that for 4 years of hard driving. That sounds pretty decent to me.

I think the point comes when you:
1) Decide to stick to a budget of sorts
2) Decide you enjoy driving more than tinkering.
2a. There's always some tinkering involved.... but much more if you keep pushing the envelope.

I think psyber likes to tinker because enginur. Atleast he has a daily now!

Where is that point? 20,000 miles at 350-400+whp on my first 6 speed isn't too shabby. I'm not a rampant **** head when driving but it certainly isn't babied.

I can live with 17-18psi wastegate for now, but I don't want to keep burning up a valve and risk other parts of the build if I can fix it.

I just want my answer, what was the most power this build was capable of. There's also the discussion of the added stress and aggravation when striving to squeeze 1% more. I do love my car, but this isn't a problem I want to run with too long.

**** nailed it. Because I have a daily driver now I can take this build from Mild to Wild. It's just a matter of having a stretch of road to tune it and take logs. This new head is pretty much the last bit of bolt on complicated experience I could have with all my time in miatas. I've never had an aftermarket cam, and it'd be a learning experience for sure.

... but also wrestling with the idea of using these locked assets towards something else because I am bored of BP motors.

My mind just about assploded when I learned that you didn't have a daily for most of this thread...

You got one like what...10 pages ago? And that's a lot of content unlike some people!

Honestly, I see this thread going the way of the MT circle of life to an NA setup.
Except with a K motor that you run with the 6 speed for a bit....
Then you get bored and get some motor work done.
Then you get bored and throw a turbo on the damn thing along with the bmw trans.

Either that, or you're going to relish the challenge of figuring out this new head shenanigans and run that setup, possibly with the bmw trans to push the limits some more, till you get bored and the above applies.

I've said several times locally, I only have one BP build left in me. Then it's turbo K with BMW swap once things are more refined. :P

I didn't have a daily driver until summer last year. I did a lot of work on a gravel/mud drive way and just got it paved last year as well with some bonus money.

I won't be allowed to build a garage, so deeper projects are tough until I move (preferably when finding new employment arrangements)

I laughed at this. "Mild" 450hp miata.

Yeah I figured I would just let that fly.

Also keeps saying he's bored with BP motors but wants to build one anyway.

Because I have the parts available on standby. Unless you want to buy a $4k head which will allow me to abandon ship.

As you can see from my for sale post, I'm beginning to liquidate redundant assets. Does your car even run yet?
