I think he was just making fun of the lack of track time for autocrossers.

Been busy, had a little trouble with my OBD connector the first time around, but I was able to tighten up the terminals for a go. I didn't know there were only 4 wires on a 99 OBD connector, pretty simple. We are allowed any one monitor to not be set for a 99, for 2000 and newer only the EVAP can not be ready. The thing is still running pretty well considering all the abuse.

Passed with flying colors after the OBD issue.

I found this image that I had to log on to mnet to get helpful for a 99.

I couldn't even remember my password

All the WAY back....
Wow!

How many times have you done that?

Looks like a PIA for inspection...
Every year or every two years?
That's a bunch of work followed by the reverse a couple of days later

Glad I live when I do.

Same old answer to everything on my car. Lots!
Just every 2 years, I have a routine that makes it pretty easy.

After you've done it a few times you get pretty good at it.

Or the technician starts giving you the side eye as to why all you bolt heads have shiny spots and wear

Just like LeMons, you need to rub some dirt on them.

I brought it to a guy's shop I know from the track one time. Boy was he giving me the side eye, finally said if it passes he would have no choice but to pass it. I could tell it was making him uncomfortable so I took it somewhere else. The nuts and bolts are so shiny and worn for the same reason it runs so clean for the mileage. Rebuilt.

Well, my motor has become the chimney motor. Luckily, thanks to the folks at SuperMiata, I have just about everything I need now. I literally ordered this stuff on Wednesday, the pistons showed up on Friday (yesterday) and everything else today. Of course I emailed with Ed a few times and made sure not to order anything they couldn't get right now.

I also picked up some cheap rods to try, but they look ok for my use. Hopefully they last a while.

Broken motor, hmmm... I wonder if this is why it's been smoking?

I actually think this happened about a year ago, but it was finally burning too much oil.

New motor in.

With new oil pump.

Finally done.

Runs beautifully.

Took second place in the truck twice.

Then took 1st place in the truck and won the 2022 championship for Gear Jammers. I even got to race for King of the Track and a Wally.

I didn't make it past the 1st round, but the guy that took me out was King of the Track.

Well that didn't last very long...

Obviously this is because of my own rushed laziness and stupidity. I thought, those being the key words, that I cleaned the oil passages pretty well. But a rushed cleaning everywhere else. In my haste, I decided I didn't need to prime the oiling system, most likely alcohol intoxication.
The thing "seemed" to run beautifully until about a hundred miles. Then click, click, click... Clack, clack, clack...
So thanks to the good folks at Supermiata, I had a new set of bearings almost instantly. Swapped in a different crank and it seems to run beautifully again. I took my time and primed the oiling system. I have been slowly giving it more power, seems to be ok with it so far.

I also got this nice trophy for winning the championship in Gear Jammers.

Bummer about the bearings but glad it seems sorted this time around. Congrats on the trophy, very cool. And in a little pickup truck haha

Car is running great, except we got rained out today. As it turned out, the 3.6 diff from Yossi showed up today, so it's just as well we weren't racing.

I finally made this 3" downpipe, and can run the 3" ultimate internal wastegate. Seems to have helped some, but hard to tell without a race. Might have to visit Vlad next week, supposed to be dry.

It ain't getting entered in any beauty contest, but it seals and doesn't rub anywhere. I will probably make another one and change a few things.

Tecna's in, haven't actually driven on them yet. Not sure if I can make it to Sacramento this week, but perhaps.

I mean, we only have something like 14 races this year. I am definitely going to be there some of the time this year. I need to look up any possible night construction on the 80 and I need to make sure the suspension is safe enough.
I will text you Wednesday by 2 if I am going this week, or any week.
