Default CHRA replacement in 2560

Hey guys, earlier this year I bought a used good condition gt2560r turbo. Had minor shaft play, but thought it was normal. Fast forward to now, im burning a ton of oil and there's in/out and up/down shaft play on this turbo. I want to replace just the rotating assembly (chra) and keep my housings, because I have welded the hot side for external gate, and have an aftermarket cold side with a t51r mod.
I've heard that new assemblies have issues with older turbos, and dont know if thats true. Id hate to spend the 700$ on a new assembly and habe to fight to return it. If I could get any insight into whether it'll work that'd be great, thanks!
This is the turbo i currently have.
