Default Will this turbo work? Im still sketchy on churbos

Ok so I have been researching for 2 weeks now on Churbos and yes their pricing allure is strong. I currently run 15psi on a garret but unfortunately caught something wicked in the intake and chewed up the blades pretty bad. . . So I want something to use while I send it off to get repaired. That being said, I keep reading to go with godspeed if i go with a churbo and Bell Engineering seems to get decent power from churbos as well.

I need one that is clocked down for the FM IC piping and IC (single silicone tube setup) to be able to handle 15 psi and still have good spool up.

Any opinions on either of these?

Any helpful comments would be appreciated. This is going on a 94 M edition already tuned greddy emanage (well tuned at that) 15 psi, 470cc injectors, bigger fp, butterfly brace, tochico/fm springs, 3" exhaust and custom begi downpipe etc.

Thanks!

Jon

I should mention i have researched to the point of knowing i need a restrictor: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...e-turbo-48563/

but not enough to the point I can make an informed decision.

Wow that was a fast response! lol yeah i currently have an ar .60 t28... it spools to max at 3200 rpm? Id love if it was similar performance but my key requirements are... few to no turbo explosions... and few to no engine explosions as a result of my choice

I do think that first link does look like : China charger 2871 BEGi and also is very similar looking to the godspeed model. I also read I should avoid the .84 AR and should stick in the .60-.64 range for what i do.

besides not exploding, why do you want the 2871 size over the 2860 size?

I'd be open to sizing options. I like staying at 280iSh hp where possible but I haven't sized a turbo now in 5+ years so I'm kinda rusty

Didn't fm shy away from the 2860?

That's very true.. On the civic sites I looked at, it seemed like after measuring housing etc, churbos trended to be equal to smaller garrets even though they were marketed as larger... I guess that is how I arrived at the 2870 spec.

So you recommend the 2860? (Potato! I still don't know where potatoes came into the name)

Mainly street/autocross and maybe a track day a year... A new engine is in the works for next year.

I like to lean smaller for the street, but that's me.

the 2560 is still capable of 280rwhp and will obviously spool faster.

boost number is arbitrary. it's a measure of how restrictive your IM is.

but i have seen 300rwhp on a 99 block with 14psi with the 2560. keep it mind it was all good components and a real 2560 garrett.

When I ran the calculations a few weeks ago, I started with 12 psi. At 12psi, you are still in the lower half of the efficiency range of the 2860. Unless you are going to keep it when you build your motor, a 2560 should be MORE than enough for street use. Especially on stock rods.
