Spec miata exhaust for later turbo upgrade
Saw this online....Spec miata exhaust | eBay
Looks good to me simple, light weight, fairly cheap. Any thoughts?
I don't see why it wouldn't make a good Na choice. And being it bolts to the factory dp I could use it in the future with a turbo dp

my miata is going to be NA for a lil while as i don't have the funds for a turbo build yet. I'm slowly sourcing all the parts. I was going to turbo my 1.6 but I'm swapping in a 1.8 insted. The exhaust i had on the car was held together with jb weld and aluminum cans so i need something to go on the new motor. I have the factory 1.8 downpipe but nothing after that.
I want something that wont need upgraded later when i add a turbo. plan to have a low boost build around 200whp...what exhaust options are out there under $500?

Honestly, just buy a stock one for next to nothing and save for a quality one for the future turbo setup.
Purchase MS instead and enjoy the marginal power increase (probs more than a 'nice' N/A exhaust might give you) with your butt dyno all while working towards your turbo system.
I was exactly where you are several years back. I thought there was a nice middle ground exhaust that could function well for both setups. Then I researched, resisted upgrading N/A stuff, did the above, and now my chi is in balance with a nice artech 3" on the way. I want you to experience this. OR do whatever you want and be pissed off later. Choose the chi.

The Mazdaspeed SM exhaust is ******* loud and not that great. The OBX cat back on ebay isn't half bad, it's 2.5" with pretty good bends. Muffler sounds good too. It's got a 4" tip but cut it off and weld on a smaller one. I've had that exhaust on my DD for at least 100k miles through snow and ice and it's still holding strong.

well the point of buying a na exhaust for me is because driving around with nothing but a open header is verry loud...not only undbaribly annoying but also will get me pulled over allot... as of right now i have no exhaust. my freshend up 1,8 will be going into my car next weekend allong with a megasquirt. car is alreay sitting on fulll coilover system and sway bars and stainless steel frame rails and a brand new lightweight flywheel and clutch...so this isnt me trying to get more performance and wondering where to spend my money..its about a good cheap exhaust option to get by so i can drive my car again... yes i would like to go turbo but im going to tune my ms na first then go turbo when i have another large chunk of cash to blow on car parts.
