Default Swapped engine wont go past 3000 rpm

So i just finished putting another 1.6 engine into my 1993 miata after blowing up my other one. I am still running my megasquirt ecu that I used when i had a turbo on the old engine but im going naturally aspirated on the new one. The car starts and idles fine but it breaks up when i give it gas. When i start in 1st gear and floor it, the revs slowly climb up to 3000 and stops there and starts breaking up. The car has no power. Is this a bad engine or is something nt connected right? It also was burning a little oil out of the exhaust and i dont have a cat so thats not the issue. Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like timing is really off. Check mechanical timing, then with a light at the crank pulley. If it’s the original pulley, you should also make sure when you’re at TDC the pulley is actually pointing at “T”
