Avoid Fab9. He has nothing in stock but will tell you he does. He drop ships from others and often sends things he got a deal on because they were open box returns, but he sells them as new.
MK Turbo is excellent. Lars is a very good-hearted and generous person. People here on the forum have made well over 300whp with his kits at lower altitudes. See a build thread here by Sonofthehill (I think I spelled it right). Lars may be making EFR or other variations of his kits soon but he torture tested many turbos before choosing the one he uses.
And Flyin Miata's stuff is good quality as well. And they are also reputable, but expensive.
And people have had good experiences with Kraken.
And yes, the MS3 has boost control built in. You will just need the solenoid valve as mentioned above. It is highly recommended that you get the megasquirt installed and running prior to installation of the turbo kit. You can then get all of the idle and driveability tuning sorted out prior to the addition of the turbo kit and intercooler. That way once those things are installed you can wire open the wastegate and drive the car to the tuner for fine tuning and tuning the boosted cells. Yes, it involves two trips to the tuner, but there is less to be done each of those times than if you tried to do it all at once. And you have the opportunity on the second trip to point out any drivability issues you've had with the initial tune for some remedial work.
EDIT: I just looked at the website and MK Turbo is offering everything- MS3PNP Pro, FF EV14 injectors, turbo kit, and intercooler kit for $4,040! That's a smoking deal. I wouldn't look anywhere else. The v-bands make installation so much easier, too. In the thin air of 9,000ft you probably won't even need to port the wastegate. In fact, I wouldn't bother with porting it if you can keep the torque under 230ft lbs, regardless of the boost pressure number. Torque and timing (peak cylinder pressure during combustion) is what bends stock connecting rods.
At 9000 feet the atmosphere is 72.4 KPa. So your first 1.9 or let's say 2psi is just altitude compensating to get you to around the equivalent of sea level.

Mkturbo got in touch with me, Im gonna go that route as it seems way easier than trying to source all the parts separately, and it is an awesome deal for what you get. Is it safe to run a little more boost at altitude to compensate? like 10 instead of 8? i know the vvt motors are higher compression so it shouldn't take as much boost to get where i want to be. I would be super happy with 220-240 tq at sea level.

Extra boost yes. Run higher boost to have same MAP. The MS controls MAP anyway, if you use the EBC. As long as the turbo can handle the extra pressure ratio without over-spinning.
Actually, as I think of it, a wastegate and a MBC are pretty much MAP based as well (though the port location makes some difference... (EBC is always sensed at the manifold proper). Further thinking... Wastegate and MBC would be Atmosphere referenced, so you would have to adjust them.
But, for the same MAP, the "Boost" as shown on a standard gauge will read higher at altitude than at sea level.
Am I seeing that correctly, guys?

As you go higher in altitude, an absolute pressure sensor (MAP sensor) and an electronic boost controller will keep boost pressure constant, but exhaust back pressure falls with altitude, and both the turbo rpm and pressure ratio both increase with altitude.
I suggest you take the time and trouble to learn how to use the Borg Warner MatchBot https://www.borgwarner.com/matchbot/...6_wrsin=92044&
That has inputs for altitude, and you will clearly be able to see on the compressor map, what happens at both altitude and sea level for any given turbo specification.
Borg Warner is not going to be the lowest cost turbo option, but its the latest and best technology currently available and if its within your budget, definitely the way to go.

Looks like there is a lot to learn for high altitude tuning. The guy that is programming/tuning my ms has a high altitude dyno so that should help a lot hopefully. That link is very helpful, thanks! Ive been binge watching car passion channels turbo videos to try to learn the flow charts, etc. Probably a dumb question but will a garret t3 50 trim .48 a/r directly fit/replace the mk turbo in the mk turbo kit?

If your tuner is "up the mountain" he almost certainly knows all about the subject.
He will be able to suggest some suitable engine management products he is familiar with, knows how to tune, and know will work well in that environment.
I am not from the US, but there is a fair bit of motorsport carried out at altitude, Lake Tahoe and Pikes Peak to name just two.
The ultralight aircraft guys probably know a fair bit as well.
So the knowledge is out there, it just needs to be tapped.

I know a few are still being cast. I see them in his facebook posts from time to time.
As someone running a TD04L-13T on a 1.6 with a kraken manifold, 2.5" downpipe, into a 2" exhaust with the change at a flange.... Do it. (But maybe look into a VF35). I am making ~10psi, full boost is at 3200rpm, positive pressure starts at like 1700rpm but I haven't been brave enough to do a pull from 1300 at WOT.... The TD04L chokes a bit at the top end, even on a 1.6.
This is all at like, 600ft above sealevel though.
