5 lug miata

5 lug swap
I am working on a 5 lug swap. It's not just to get the 5 lugs but also to have cheap bigger brakes with stuff I already have on hand (lots of Mustang parts and a trashed 88 RX7). My probable parts list is for the front is Ford 87ish Probe REAR hubs, 94-04 Mustang 11" V6/GT, rotors, FC RX7 Mazda 4 piston or 99-04 Mustang 2 piston V6/GT PBR calipers. I would like to use the Mazda calipers if possible but mounting and clearance issues may prevent it. The rear will probably be FC RX7 rotors, hubs and calipers.

Do a search on M.net. Someone already found a direct interchange for larger rotors off a VW Corrado that have significantly larger diameter than stock miata brakes.. Really, its not worth a 5 lug anymore than its worth putting a stock N/A 13b in a miata...

I guess you can call me old school, but I never cared for the looks of a 4 lug wheel. Personally I always felt 5 lugs looked better.
My question although was geared more towards people who change over to the Ford 8.8 rear ends which have 5 lugs. Matching rear 5 lugs rims with 4 lug fronts is not as easy.
If your simply after advantages, how about larger rotors, different braking system.

And I could pull the front wheels off the ground.

Just curious if anyone has converted their miata to 5 lugs all the way around. The reason Im asking is because I know alot of V8 guys change the rear ends out to something more heavy duty (assuming 5 lug). If it hasent been done, I was thinking about coming up with my own conversion for the front spindles at least.

I have you completely covered. Use NB calipers and brackets. 2002 Mazda protege hubs and rotors. The outer edge of the rotors need to be cut down 0.20" and a 0.25" spacer needs to go between the rotors and the hubs. The factory axle outers have the same splines. This will give you a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. Good luck.
