Huh - I would have thoguht the stock blistiens would be pretty good. Shaik at FCM has a really good reputation. I have yet to ride in a car anything like mine, and I didn't do anything to it - I don't even have the right size (7") springs in the rear.
550/375 works pretty darned well - which y ou can get a coil over set up from ebay for like $200. FYI - I bought used/blown koni sports and revalved them - cheaper than buying race. I'm not sure what other budget shocks are good.
One more thing - the car is faster (not as "sporty" but faster) on the konis because it sticks - the wheels are always on the ground.

I think they are good shocks, just not good paired with stock springs. The stock springs are too soft and put too much of the work on the shocks. When I went with the FM springs I noticed a decent improvement in my ride. I also did FCM mounts at the same time, so I can't say for sure how much it helped. Either way, Bilsteins and stock springs don't pair well in my opinion.
