Going Quaife - slavage broken 5spd as donor?
#41
No, what I’m saying is that if you have a stock Miata, the Quaife ratios with the 4.1 R&P and OE diameter tires will have no problems with take off which was what I was addressing. As for my Miata, yes it's under 300 WHP. I didn't conceive this gear set with the sole purpose of making it more robust than the OE 5 speed. For the price of this gear set, just meeting that goal would not have enough value to manufacture and market it. There are other benefits to the Quaife gear set.

The new box should be here somewhere next week. I've heard of no issues putting it back together other than the reverse synchro being bad on the donor.
Meanwhile, I'm taking the car apart (PPF, driveshaft, etc) and can't remember what I did with the downpipe last time. I suppose disconnecting the downpipe from the turbo so I can move it around will be the minimum I need to do. But as a whole it won't go out of the car. It's a BEGI SSSG that used to be two parts - I don't see them coming apart ever again.
I need a transmission jack too...

Spoke to the builder. He mention some machining and adding rings somewhere. I should have pics soon. Basically, the box would shift like ---- if put together as Quaife intended (maybe because my donor is MY00 and the Quaife was blueprinted MY95).
It should be ready to pick up end of this week.

One month later and the new gearbox has finally mated with the engine. Of course it was a total bitch to position, but should be the last gearbox this car will see.
Sorta need to figure our with bolts went where on the bellhousing. There are 2 longer ones, 3 thin ones around the starter and the rest is virtually the same. Where to the 2 longer ones go?

You didn't seem to have any problems with 911s of any vintage. What's your curb weight and power? What tires/suspension are you running?

Yikes, close call at about 7:27. Did you have to clean your driving suit afterwards?
There seems to be a lot of kick-back through the wheel. Is it a particularly bumpy track? Converted to manual steering?
You managed to dispatch the orange GT3-RS again, this time pulling him on the straight. Well done.

It's a converted manual with welded pinion. It's not super smooth, but not _very_ bumpy either. I think part of it is me driving
