Are there any better OTS solutions for sway bars? Any plans for a SadFAB option? My front RB bar using the ES lube & poly bushings it came with is pretty damn hard to move at all with both ends disconnected.

Does a delrin sandwich madjak posted above improve things over poly noticibly? (I'm not sure if the friction coefficient between a painted bar & delrin bushing is going to be as good as bare steel on delrin - although it's prob better than poly/paint).

I like the delrin sandwich idea. We have tossed around delrin swaybar bushings, and its on a napkin somewhere. But don't expect or plan on anything from us in the near future.

Have you shaved the poly bushing or shimmed the bracket? The RB bracket squishes the bushing badly once you snug it up unless you do one of those.

I made a set, never had time to install them on the e-stock car. I'm just going to buy a small fortune racing bar for the real racecar because its so cheap.

Yeah I shimmed the bolts/bracket with washers to make sure it wasn't too squished which did help, it still takes a disturbing amount of force to make it move.

Looks like you can get pillow block bearings like this in the right sizes for our sway bars, very expensive though:

Something like this looks good if it came in the right size (can only find 1" and 1.25" ID, not 1.125"):

Looks like they have bronze & PFTE type ones: PB4-1250-B - Pillow Block, Self Aligning, SAE 840 Bronze Bearing Spyraflo

Except you need a split bearing to be able to put it on the normal sway bars, and I never found one with a small enough bolt spacing.

Madjak 12-20-2016 06:18 PM

The split delrin block works well for something so simple. The paint has worn a little where it rubs on the delrin. Between the rodend end links and solid mounts on the sway I get a lot of clunks and creaks in the back.

I'll do a similar mod on the front.

hi_im_sean 12-20-2016 08:44 PM

Try getting that on a sway bar without going way oversized and using a split bushing. You can find roller bearing pillow blocks for about $30 if you know where to look.

I have a few ideas for sway bushings, we're just too busy with regular bushings and other projects right now.

More better. This is one of our customers doing a comparison.

Leafy 02-13-2017 08:12 PM

Is it still possible to get spacers for the RUCA outer spherical to use one of the camber adjust control arms?

hi_im_sean 02-13-2017 09:18 PM

Absolutely, just send me a pm or email info@sadfab.com when ready.

Chilicharger665 02-14-2017 01:38 PM

So it still has a few poly bushings. As I understand, the magic is in the bronze sleeves, so delrin is just one mo betta?

hi_im_sean 02-14-2017 03:23 PM

Yes delrin more better... and as mentioned in OP, poly is in a few locations to prevent bind.

Chilicharger665 02-15-2017 02:30 PM

I get that, but the level of freedom demonstrated in the video will be nearly the same with all poly bushings or significantly different?

aidandj 02-15-2017 02:32 PM

Should be the same. Just less deflection.

Im not sure I understand. The reduced friction in the poly bushings are a result of the bronze bearings. So any poly bushing with the bronze bearings will have similar levels of freedom.

Chilicharger665 02-15-2017 03:02 PM

That is what I was getting at. The secret sauce is your bronze bearings, the choice of material is how much stiffness you can bear.

What I don't get it why you guys are the only ones doing this. It is a very known issue that poly bushings like to bind and have lots of friction. You and bbundy's similar solutions are what make mt.net such a cool place.

Is the process as simple as measuring bearings to put in any bushing? So you could theoretically make them for any car?

aidandj 02-15-2017 03:04 PM

Its actually even more simple than that. ES all pretty much use standard bushing and sleeve sizes. So you just need a catalog of sleeves and bearings that fit their bushings. We are working on a set for a 240sx, but may be expanding in the future.

Chilicharger665 02-15-2017 03:12 PM

Well hot damn, I have an ND that I keep on waffling between selling or keeping and ES has already released a bushing kit for it... The stock car is appalling soft. What information would you need to start on a kit like that?

aidandj 02-15-2017 03:13 PM

ES part numbers and some sort of downpayment. We are very busy right now. Lots of orders coming in. Email us.
