Talking Miata Clutch and flywheel question

Hey everyone,

well i have been looking up clutchs for my miata,
i just installed a greddy bolt on turbo kit in my miata and my clutch is starting to slip.

I wanted to know if i would also need a flywheel or if i can just run the stock one, also what would be the advantages or disadvantages.

i am currently in a tight budget
i came across these kits

1.This complete clutch kit includes:
F1 Racing Stage 3 Heavy-Duty Pressure Plate
F1 Racing Stage 3 Copper Ceramic 6-Puck Sprung Disc (7-7/8", 22 spline)
Release Bearing
Pilot Bearing
Alignment Tool
Ultra heavy-duty and weighs only 9.95 lbs (stock flywheel weighs 19 lbs)
Made from 4140 forged chromoly steel (2X stronger than billet steel)
F1 Racing Lightweight Chrome-Moly flywheels incorporate special design features to enhance the airflow for improved clutch cooling
CAD designed, CNC machined and computer balanced
Includes new flywheel bolts

F1 STAGE 3 CLUTCH KIT& RACING FLYWHEEL 89-93 MIATA 1.6L : eBay Motors (item 400047800867 end time Feb-28-10 11:03:56 PST)

There is also the version that does not contain the flywheel which is 180$ cheaper.

The 2nd kit that i came across was a
ACT
ACT Heavy Duty Clutch Kit 90-93 Mazda Miata

Mind you i would not be able to afford a flywheel with the ACT

This is what ebay flywheels get you:
YouTube - flywheel explosion

But go for ebay clutches, they're nice.

just resurface the stock flywheel, and get the ebay clutch, it will hold 250 or so whp easily.

Call me crazy, but the first ad doesn't seem to include the flywheel.

Also, on the ACT unit, if you do a search to other sites that sell the same act part number, you must go to a 1.8 flywheel.

basically my goal is to get around 240 to the wheel?? so how i see it im sure atleast for now that clutch should hold then later go for a better one.

Don't cheap out on the part that actually puts the power to the rear wheels. Get a good ACT clutch and a OEM 1.8 flywheel, then save up your money for a new differential/driveshaft/axles once you blow up your stock 1.6

+1

Be very careful with the stock 1.6 rearend; one good 5K+ plus launch can easily grenade it, even with a stock 1.6 clutch.
