Default requesting advice on ground controls.

I have a set of ground controls for illuminas for my 2002 NB, yet to be installed. They were ordered from Flyin Miata in the standard GC rates for illuminas from them, 425 lb/in in front and 300 lb/in rears. This is for a spirited street car.

I dont find the spring looseness at full droop to be confidence inspiring, and was wondering If this is anything to be concerned about. I could see the springs divorcing themselves from the included perches under certain conditions and creating all sorts of issues.

Im investigating helper and tender springs, but havent seen much information to aid me in my decision making. Im leaning towards just getting helper springs, as I am not particularly inclined to change my spring rates in pursuit of a solution.

These are what I am looking at. They seem the obvious answer, barring any of you have objections or know of a cheaper yet equally effective solution.

Of course, its entirely possible I am over thinking this and the car will never go to full droop on the street, but the loose fit of these still doesnt jive well with me.

Your advice is appreciated. If this is noobing you guys out, I apologize.

1. On the street, you'll never go full droop unless the contents of your car are floating in the air.

2. The only exception to this is if you have removed the rear sway bar, in which case, the only time you'll ever go full droop is if you drive over a ditch or something slowly enough for the damper to fully extend.

2a. If you still have the sway bars installed, and a wheel comes off the ground, the suspension at that corner is still compressed.

how much do they drop? like fooger said, it's not that big of a deal. All that will happen is the droop travel is limited to the point where the spring does "fall".

i had ground controls with koni shocks on my gsx and was worried that at the drop i liked the springs were loose and in no way compressed when i had the car jacked up and on stands. my car rubbed alot then and rode like crap. i adjusted them so they were a little compressed when they were in the air and it rode much better . so i would suggest the same just my

Car rode better because you increased suspension travel, not because the car was higher.

Just my 3 cents.

you increased the preload, meaning you had more bump travel and ride height.
