Back a few years ago, people were shoe-horning 275-35-15 Hoosiers on 6" rims for the front of Integra Type R's at Nationals for D Stock. I ran 225-45-15 Hoosiers on 6" Miata rims for years in C Stock. 245 is fine on a 8" wide rim.
Go sit in the corner. |
Did you even read the question...

Yeah, they did that because of classing rules, not because it was the optimal wheel width for the tire.

Many classes require street tires, and the Miata always gets the short end of the stick with tire selection because of it. A 275 would be a game-changer. We are currently building an enduro Miata to run in World Racing League for 2017 (K24 powered of course), but we're restricted to street tires. A 275 would be a fantastic option.

I'm just going to say yes please again.. i really want this to happen.

Go sit in the corner. Now, would I buy a set of 275/35/15 Street tires, like the Maxis, yes... yes, I would. |
Remember kids, narrow tires preserve drivetrains!
I'd consider a set of 275's. |

I'd consider a set of 275's. And yes, I would definitely buy a set of 275 200tw tires! |
Would this fit under unmodified fenders? Jk.
In for a set, now I have an excuse to get flares. |

I'd buy a set, destroy them in a summer, and buy more the next year. I already have a set of 15x11's on standby in the garage that I'd eagerly put some wide street tires on.
If you've not already done so, consider cross posting this on miata.net in the engine swap section. |

I would be interested. Especially is some of these "drag week" style Autocross events continue to grow.
FWIW I am making progress with Hoosier on building a 23" tall A7 wider than 275mm. I will post more details when I have more information. |

Just received confirmation today. The new, wider 23" tall A7 will be here May 1st
p.s. This is worthy of a new thread. |

Do I need to plan for 15x12 6UL's or are these some other diameter?

Haaa. I think 15x12's would only work in the rear. I really think this is going to be a much more limited market than the 275. My plan is to get some new barrels for my wheels and go 15x12 in the rear and stay 15x11 up front

With the bogarts, could you just change the outter barrel to add width and keep inner clearance the same as they'd be with 11's?

It occurred to me that with the advent of our affordable and readily available 15x11, there might be sufficient demand for a 275/35/15 in something like a VR-1. Both for the stancekids and high hp NA/NB builds. The 245's are awesome but 275's go to 11.
I reached out to my contacts at Maxxis to see if a small production run would be possible. The original 275/35/15 Hoosier was simply a 225/45/15 with 2 inch plug in the center. Could we take the 245/40 and put a 30mm plug in the center. Dunno? Might be worth doing. Thoughts? P.S. Insta neg cat for asking if they fit unmodified fenders |
Nothing to report just yet
