I did try to ride in the left lane on a particularly harsh part of US 19 that is so rough I would actually consider it dangerous for most cars at highway speeds but to my dismay it has since been repaved and is rather level and smooth now. I guess I will have to wait for Sebring to really test it out and see if the uneven track punishes me for my choice in spring rates. At this point in time I believe I made the right choice.

I was hoping to be out there for the track weekend on March 29-30th but due to a mix up on my part I signed up late and am currently on the waiting list. Sixshooter will be out there instructing. I will definitely make the next event if a spot doesn't open up for this one.

I met sixshooter when he came over to help me with my idle issue. I don't know anyone else around here, at lease not on here.

I finally had time this weekend to open up the spare VVT motor I have had sitting around for months. It revealed the first major disappointment of my build.
This is the first thing I saw. ******* awesome. To be fair, the person I bought it from did tell me that the engine had blown and had not been opened. He had expected a bent rod and a bad piston but said there might be some valve damage. I also didn't pay much at all for the motor so I am not too butt hurt over it. More pics of the glory.
Needless to say I am searching for another VVT head...
On a better note, a spot at Sebring opened up for me on the 29th. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

That block has some amazing carnage, but if the crank and bores are not complete trash it may still be usable with a solid overbore. I guess you'll find out as you get further in.
The 6758 you mentioned earlier with the v-bands, is that both on the turbine inlet and outlet? I know we had a thread going about them but I can't seem to find data anywhere. Though I'm sure your 7163 will provide plenty of glory.
So it occurs to me that I've got this VVT head that needs an intake cam...

If the core is in good shape and the bearing surfaces are not scored up let me know a shipped price (33770) and we might be able to work something out. I would love you LONG time.

Don't tempt me. I loaned the intake cam to Vlad so he could try to get his car running and then USPS went full retard and left the cam on my porch and someone stole it. I almost don't want to go through the hassle of putting it back together at this point and I was seriously considering parting out the head. If curly does not have one for you, let me know and I can get pics or something.

That head is finally for sale, and/or trade for a VICs head+manifold. Not sure what my friend is offering, it's not quite posted but we've decided not to use it ourselves. Contact greddygalant on the forum here.

Small update. Track day on March 29th/30th at Sebring was a success. Car held up great and I had a lot of fun. Avoided catastrophic on track failure when I noticed a noise originating from mt driver side rear wheel. Pitted before grid and realized 3 of the 4 lug nuts had loosened themselves quite a lot. Tightened them back up and they did the same thing after 2 more sessions. I wasn't using a torque wrench so I am not sure if I just didn't put enough clamping force on them but after I tightened them one more time they didn't loosen again. Here are two of my favorite pictures from the weekend.
I had my first rain session on Saturday which was scary as **** because I kept hydroplaning everywhere and it made me rather uncomfortable.
Ironically I didn't spin out in the rain but I did spin out on Sunday. I was battling and S2000 for fun and ended up overdriving my tires. Luckily the guy in the s2000 had a go pro.
I also was able to disassemble the spare block finally with the help of miata2fast. The block appears to be salvageable. There are a few very minor gouges in cylinder 3 but It should be able to be bored out. I didn't get any pictures but I did receive a spare vvt head in the mail.
After a brief inspection all of the bearing surfaces and valves appear to be okay. I should be taking everything to the machine shop sometime in the next weekend.
