My AVO kit came with one under the K&N filter.

Vibrant has something similar now. The part number isn't on their site but it is in their '08 catalog. See them in this pic:

Is the intention that you run this without a filter?

If I wanted one of those I would just buy a junker Alto Sax on ebay for half the price and cut its bell off.

<---------------- See, it would work.

You could probably cut up a metal mixing bowl.

I always thought that the anodized aluminum ones look killer. If they can be run with a filter I'd be all over a gold anodized one

I know K&N makes filters with 6" holes.

Here's my intake design theory:

1. A bell-mouthed thing flared to transition the air flow to near-zero at the mouth.
2. a smooth transition to a "filter chamber" that is the proper area to maintain mass flow rate and still filter well.
3. a smooth transition from the filter to the turbo inlet, ideally the same size and approach angle as the compressor inlet.

The reason I like the filter BEHIND the bellmouth is to allow the thing to do its job. the filter mounted to it will disrupt the flow I think. Though since the velocity is low, maybe it's not going to.
