^******* Epic.

OP, I am in a similar boat. Going to put in a 6 speed just because. And so I am accumulating parts to do while I am in there.

1) Reroute - I went with the baller BEGI spacer, then the Kia neck and all that.
2) Timing belt and water pump. I think mine is at 150K. Its like 110 in parts, why not.
3) (Post 95 only, so not your gig, but still....) Actual oil pressure sender rather than the on-off switch. Moding my existing gauge.
4) Clutch and flywheel - really want to go with Supermiata 1.8, but we shall see what the availability is. Since this 6 speed is heavily used I'm putting it in, driving it for a bit, then taking it back out to rebuild with some more knowledge of what's wrong with it. So I can wait on the clutch personally.
5) Engine mounts, going with the MazdaSpeed ones like everyone else.
6) Brake stuff too, but that's not really an engine-out thing.
7) Clutch line, so that its easier to pull the engine next time.

Already pulled the PS, AC, and Cruise, so that's all set.

Check. I've already got an M-Tuned kit waiting for installation. The only thing that pisses me off is that a local shop specializing in Miatas did a DIY reroute... ...and it sucked.

Agreed and check.

For me, I'm installing a lightened stock flywheel for the N/A motor that's going in, and I'm using a stock clutch. Once I start my engine build for FI, then I'll source the appropriate clutch to go with.

5) Engine mounts, going with the MazdaSpeed ones like everyone else.
Hmmm.. ..hadn't thought about that.

6) Brake stuff too, but that's not really an engine-out thing.
Agreed. She'll get bigger brakes when bigger brakes are needed.

7) Clutch line, so that its easier to pull the engine next time.

Already pulled the PS, AC, and Cruise, so that's all set.
The clutch line is already done...

...and I don't have PS or cruise...

...but I'm ADDING AC.

I want a sophisticated street machine with some poke, and I like being comfortable (that's why I'll also install a bypass valve system on the heater core).

Thanks for the thoughts.
