Most people say the best entry-level kit is Bell's "S" kit at BEGI-S Miata Turbo System 1994-1997 BEGi or save some money by getting the version with a Chinese turbo at BEGI Shanghai-S Turbo System 1994-1997 BEGi.

I turbo'd mine at 221K MILES (that's like 5 million killometers I think, actually 336K).
Still going strong.
Seriously, you could not have picked a better car to work on. You will look back on your Volkswagen days like I often look back at my Honda days...as wasted time.
Sink money into suspension first, you will thank me later.
There are good turbo kits out there, including several offerings from budget-minded to absolute friggin' power from BEGi. A LOT of guys here go the DIY(do it yourself) route, especially with intercooler setups, so there is a lot of information to be found.
Use the "Advanced Search" option for the search dropdown, and sort the threads by "Relevance." This helps tremendously.
Welcome to the show.

Nope, this thread needs to stay! It's a good thread, very nice for a NOOB from Canada. Making fun of Canadians is a very popular thing for Americans... but my wife is from Toronto, so I don't get to play.
Anyways, just be sure to hang out a week or so, soak up all the information you can. WELCOME!
