Holy crap, sorry man.

Now I'm thinking about calling up my insurance agent, since we have a ~70' poplar in our back yard that is in striking distance of the garage. I do have comprehensive coverage on everything since it's cheap for my older vehicles, but I was under the impression that if it's in the garage, which is part of my house, then it falls under the homeowner's policy. OTOH, from your pics it looks like you had a detached garage in the back yard? Obviously I don't know what all the technicalities are.

Better go drain the gas tank then.

Just uncovered the Miata. Ouch. Seam weld is sitting on the concrete behind the driver's door. It doesn't really matter how bad though- it was totaled or totaled worse - the important thing is that the all the crap I did to the car is still good, and only because I drove the car straight in to the garage... which I hardly ever do. I'll get some more pics up tonight. And Brainy - everybody enjoys carnage - just like you posting your drifter phone poll images while we spectated.

I do, used to be an insurance agent. Regardless if the garage is attached or not, no coverage for motor vehicles or their parts under a homeowners policy, period. It is specifically excluded. So if your brand new turbo kit from Begi that was under your bed waiting to be installed gets burned in a fire, zero coverage.

Your comprehensive will cover damage from wind, hail, fire, theft, malicious mischief (vandalism), hitting an animal. Policies vary on covering anything that wasn't stock on the original vehicle. Some cover it, some cover it as long as a special rider is purchased, some offer no coverage at all. This is something that you need to review with your own agent.

yes y8s theft of items that are in your automoblie would be covered on your homeowners policy not ur auto policy. I was an insurance adjuser and we only covered parts that were permanently attached to your vehicle up to $1000 for aftermarket parts unless u purchase extra coverage but every company is different.

They do- as long as they are not car parts. Whacked. hmmm... kww- my hard top wasn't installed on the car at the time, hanging from the garage rafters. I'll be sure to mention that to the adjuster. It's amazing what survived all this. I found a couple of gauges, one out of the box that are fine.

The tree's fall was cushioned by the cars and garage to the point that there wasn't a lot of noise, not like you'd think with that big tree.

I got some time out there tonight and put everything that could "walk away" in the shed. Then took the sawzall to the windshield and pulled it right off. Vacuumed it out and plan to crank it up and park it somewhere tomorrow or Thursday. I wonder if that would be video-worthy.

Unfortunately the LE parts are trashed. Door panel and dash are history. The go fast stuff is going into whatever I pick up. I'd really like to have an NB, but I'm not sure that I'll have the time to deal with new electronics (with two youngins and my biz), whereas the early NA swap would be a no-brainer. And thanks for all the kind comments.

And I thought the storms messed my week up. All I got was a smashed window in my shitty backup car, some minor roof damage and a **** ton of limbs in my yard and no power for 2 days Looks like you got it much worse. Sorry to hear man, sucks *****. There are plenty more Miata out there, start again.

I just noticed you said this happened not during the storm. I'm guessing you guys got the same stuff we did early Monday. Did the tree already have a lean to it, or did it just randomly fall. Looks like it picked the worse possible place to fall. At least it wasn't the house though I guess.

PS, I would be so tempted to move the windshield frame out of the way and attempt to drive it around the block or something. Doesn't look like anything in the engine bay would have been harmed. Crushed the **** out of those nice seats though.

I hit a curb at ~20mph and couldn't drive it the 2 miles to my house after that with the front a-arm a little tweaked and the sway bar end link snapped. I doubt you'd be able to move that much. But get whatever attempts you make on video!
