Should I buy a spiffy new/almost new car?

427CID is 7 Liters, which used to be a common race class size limit. Chevy had 427's. Ford had 427s, 428s and 429s. Chrysler had 426's. There were some exotics back in the day with these displacements . . . Hemi's, SOHC, Boss 429.
The new Chevy 427 pays homage to its lineage. I wish I had a 427 in my G8! Or Miata!

Stein the 335D does not look much faster than my forester. My forester is pretty quick but I was expecting more from the 335D. 36MPG sounds like it beats my fozzies 19mpg. I could not find any mods for the 335D though.
I am not finding the E92 for under 30K. What is the $450 mod?

Mine's "only" a GT. The real benefit of the GXP is that you could get a manual. Otherwise, they are pretty much the same car and they built a lot more GT's (still rare though). It is a big, roomy 4 door, not really what you're after I think. VERY comfortable and drives like a much smaller car.
I've had enough MB's to shy away, thanks. German cars are like airplanes, boats or horses. It's not the acquisition cost that kills you. You better have a warranty.

That gt500 looks nice but for 50K I think I would rather buy a regular Mustang GT and then boost it for 700hp or something.

I understand the wanting a sporty car thing, but just high HP doesn't mean a great ride, especially in the twisties and in traffic. If you want a 4-500hp fast sub 50k car for another fun, fast car to mod, then great, but just based off your original post, you might want to re-think. Again, not saying that the above mentioned cars will not be fun or useful in commuting, they might not provide the gay, vegan pampering that you so secretly desire.
