Default Megasquirt PCB question

While building my megasquirt i came across a spot in the PCB where i am supposed to install D 12, only on the banded side of the diode, there is no hole for the lead. There is just a small metal square with what appears to be a indent in it. It this a manufacturer error or am i supposed to do something with it?

should i drill it out or try to punch it out?

ill see if my roommate has a camera when he gets home.

Thanks -- Alex

Maybe someone inserted something into your hole when no one was looking.....

In New Zealand, when things like that happen there is usually a court process.

Most of the boards are made with solder, those shiney metal bits you see on the board around all the holes. The board itself is copper, they dip it in solder and blow on it to get it flat.

Probably for some reason that process didn't go quite right. Likely nothing to worry about - though if it was happening all over the board there's the chance to pins on something might be shorted together. You should notice this during the build, but if it acts funny when you get it built that's one thing I would look for.

Odds are, it's fine.

Here in new mexico we call that gettin' lucky!

j/k.

Thanks abe, that makes sense. I'm not worried about it, just wanted to solder in the diode and get my megasquirt done!
