Why do I get the feeling that the words Linux and Megatunix might have something in common?

Personally, I'm still using MegaTune. It's the old, reliable standard that most of the documentation seems to accommodate. Been meaning to install TunerStudio, but have been somewhat lazy...

If you're running Linux, I'd choose TunerStudio over Megatunix. If you're running Windows, I'd stick with MegaTune. It's not as slick & fancy, but it's simple.

I use Megatunix on my Linux laptop. When using it on my Windows laptop it tries comm ports in order (com1, com2, etc.) till it finds an ECU. In doing so it hangs at com3 every time (the correct one is com4) so it never connects.

Between Megatune and Tunerstudio I prefer TS. I love the gauge view. I use a modified layout to show just about everything. With my laptop mount when logging and the car does something strange I can glance over and see what happened and what to look for in the log later.

I also like the trigger/tooth logger in TS. I don't know if MT has this but I have never seen it.

I'm surprised and almost appalled that you of all people aren't using TS. The changes are so subtle you can hardly notice, menus and layout is almost identical. There was literally zero learning curve for me when switching to TS, and I was already a MT newb.

The TS learning curve is steeper the longer you've used Megatune. I've got both, and TS is a superior program, but I still fall back on Megatune when I do customer cars just because I'm more familiar (and therefore faster) with it.

I've been meaning to switch. Megatune and vista dont seem to get along well at all. It crashes all the time and after I close it I have to shut windows down and restart it before I can open megatune again.

Haven't played with Megatunix at all.
TunerStudio is a superior application to MegaTune. It has a lot of 'nice' features like being able to have more than one dialog box open at the same time, and the dashboard gauges will all still work.

^^^ this. I don't like how you cant bring in a msq into TS without it freaking out about what project you have open.
