MSPNP2 1.6 - Making a harness for BMW VTPS
My car is a 1.6 and does not come with a VTP. I'm using the 6 pin connector found on older automatic bmw cars. For those of you who are using the same tps what did you use to make a harness with pin connectors? (Not how to wire it, but what to use for the pin connection) I do not have the pig tails from the factory connector, just the sensor itself.

cut back as much as you can of the connector guide (where the o-ring is) to expose the metal contact. Solder on your new wires. Be sure to pre-tin both the wire and the sensor pins. Pull test to make sure you have a good connection. Use heat shrink to insulate your wires from each other. Pot the connector area with an epoxy or similar to strain relief the connector and help waterproof it some.

Two options to solve this.
1. Splice in new leads and retain your original TPS connector to go back to stock easily (still hacked harness tho)
2. Remove the connector and leads from the stock 1.6 tps and solder those to the appropriate leads of the new vtps and retain a stock harness (adapter connector method)
I'm sure you already knew this Braineack, just letting the OP know.

Boy, that took a whole 2 seconds of googling to find. With that kind of time involved in a project, I can see why you didn't do the searching yourself! It's only 7:30am and I'm already wiped out from all the googling. My fingers are bleeding. My vision is blurry. Not sure I'll even make it to noon before dying. Death by googling.

you could also make a really easy little adapter harness for it.
three wires wach with a flat spade on one end and a bullet on the other.
press the spade into the OEM connector and fit the bullet over the BMW pin.
