So im tossing around the idea of an NC, so started looking at BOOST options besides this shenanigans here. Started looking and found Begi's kit for like 3600...hmmm, not bad. Then I saw tuning options, which added like 1K, so I wanted to see if those are the only options, seems high but im used to these GM PCMs that can just be reflashed cheaply...whatever, cant find much, so I just got the m.net and search Begi.

Find a thread about Moto-east modifying the Begi kit. This interests me. Begin to read and I realize how much of a clown this blackbone guy is.

Mike @ moto-east posts his a pic 3 yr old begi manifold (im assuming to show that its still in good shape), and talks about some of the upgrades he wants to make, mainly about PS routing and charge pipe routing.

Then clearly states he has another new one for a customer.

The this guy steps in

Now im new at the whole trubo thing but I dont see a crack, and then of course the TDR (not the real TDR) lover can also see this phantom crack and posts up about how it was a "good catch" by blackone.

Then Mike says
Not sure what crack you're seeing? There's no cracks...maybe you guys are referring to the relief cuts? Those are Corky's staple and work to allow the flange to expand without warping. Mine was never relief cut and there's no cracking, warping, nor leakage.

Thanks missed that, I really like those shiny coatings, very nice
Looked like TDR trying to bring up bad ****, I call Shenanigans, would never do business with this fool.

Thread for you guys

Its obvious that Blackbone is a serious piece of ****. The evidence just piles up.
Its fucked up that someone would try to run a business with this kind of shady bullshit going on.

It doesn't look good for someone who already has a questionable rep to troll other vendors. It makes it hard to tell if the "Korky" was passive-aggressive, or just not paying attention.

When you have that kinda rep, everything little thing you do gets looked at with a different light.

A+++ trolling from Jay.

"Oh wow I see a crack in a place that you can't actually see in the picture."

I mean you can see where the weld is on the #3 runner, but not much else. There could be a 1/4" gap and I'm pretty sure it couldn't be seen from that pic. Truly a master at work. Too bad he's trying to run a business, he would fit right in here otherwise.

Maybe I'm the idiot. I thought he spells his name Corky. I was referring to how the other guy spelled Corky's name.

Correct, but you used quotes so I thought you were actually referring to Corky, not the dude who kept calling him Korky.

Nah, I was using them to just highlight the spelling situation. Probably used quote marks incorrectly. Anyway,

I had to have my manifold rebuilt by Corky due to cracks as well. As far as the picture where Jay sees the "phantom crack" goes, take a look at where the weld is on runner number 3. You will see a dark line running along the edge of the weld.

I'm assuming that this was what he was referring to. It looks like the weld is separating from the main and allowing exhaust gas to seep through as evidenced by the carbon on the edge of the weld.

Good thread.

[Supercharging] The FASTREDRAT is dead. - MX-5 Miata Forum

tl;dr -- NC engine asplodes and send the #1 piston through the oil pan, car gets crispy, owner still quite confident that his tune from Jay @ TDR has nothing to do with it.

I love reading m.net this quite pretty much sums it up
Based on recent dyno of 212 RWHP, the engine was producing about 280 HP, 253 at the crank (30 HP to drive the blower @ 6000 RPM).

Lol, typical, taking a real useful figure of RWHP, and turning it into some made up arbitrary figure which sounds impressive.

It was dynojet, so it was already an arbitrary figure that sounds impressive. They just took that **** it to another level.

they said that about the Sniper tune when it first came out too, then Cosworth acutally started shipping pistons with the SC kit. Meanwhile Corky was boosted well over 300rwhp without issues on a good tune.

Yep. My car was the first turbo outside of the BEGi shop. I was making WELL over 300 at 16psi with an Xede and water/meth. Easy as pie. I still don't understand the appeal of the supercharger.
