If you have a megasquirt you can run the 36-2T.

What ECU, as that is the big factor.

Honestly the stock 4tooth trigger has worked fine for me for 4+ years with VVT on an MS3x.

If tuning for maximum power and high boost (>20psi) or sustained revs above 8000, the greater timing accuracy of the 36-2T is recommended. For a more conservative tune, the 4T is fine. +/- 1° error from spark scatter isn't a big deal with a conservative tune but can be with a high rpm or high boost tune. I don't have detailed data for scatter vs rpm with the 4T and 36-2T but info from similar tooth patterns on other engine indicates a need for the higher tooth count in certain applications. OEM's almost exclusively use the higher tooth counts in fast feedback loop DI engines. The SkyActiv-G engines can add a second squirt of fuel late in the cycle to cool the chamber based on sensor data.

I went ahead and ordered the 36-2 T with it. I will be raising my rev limit with my soon to be built engine, probably won't be sustained above 8000 for a while, but would like that extra accuracy anyways. Any downside to getting the 36-2T instead of the 4T?

None if you can run it.

None that we have encountered. We have it running on two cars here. One N/A NB2 engine that gets spun past 8k regularly. The other a 350whp Rotrex NB2 on pump gas with knock sensing enabled that only sees 7000rpm.

Do these things sell out pretty quick? Might be a week before I can pick one up.

Last I heard was that the previous batch sold out within 48 hours. Could be wrong though.

These must be growing in popularity. Any idea when the next batch is due? Another 3-4 weeks?

Suggestion is to bookmark the page on our website. Just check it once a day until you see them read in stock. When they do read in stock, do not hesitate. We have doubled our quantity twice now and they still seem to sell out quickly. Hopefully this doubling will allow us to to have enough left over to keep them on the shelf for a while.

So it is clear though I am not going to state an ETA or update this particular forum thread when they come in. If you wait for me to update here you will miss out :( We had a few in a week or so ago. They were gone within 24 hours.

We are working on a new website that will have RSS feeds and email notifications for every product.
