You mean this bigger 2D wing was less draggy and faster then a smaller 3D wing used incorrectly and mounted to high? Shocking.
Not knocking 9LR, I would have picked up one of these myself if I had not completed building my own wing literally a week before these were announced. But I still want to see real CFD/wind tunnel testing for numbers and lift/drag, not skewed tests vs a 3D wing before I sing their praises.
So I posted on 9LR's facebook saying they should provide some data we could use to compare to the APR wings, and they just tagged me back this morning. Here's the free air data they just added to their site. Looks pretty damn good actually. Compare to the charts in my post #53.
Those are pretty impressive numbers and look like they could be improved considering the lack of a gurney. Can't help but notice this was on a 70" wing, not the 64"/68" that are legal for most miatas in various classes. Still 200lb of downforce @100mph with only 20lb of drag sounds pretty dam noticeable.

My thoughts exactly. I'm trying really hard to resist picking one up now...
Also, yes 9LR's CFD is on a 70" wing, but APR does not list the size they tested the GT-250 with. Since the largest size they offer is a 71", I'd assume that APR's numbers are based off of their biggest ****.
73lbs at 60MPH and 10° without a flap sounds pretty decent too...
So I did a thing... and I'm very happy with it.
The endplates were just to center the airfoil in the box for shipping. I'll be fabricating my own uprights and endplates. I'll also be getting a range of gurney flap sizes to test/tune that aspect.
Now THAT, is awesome. Props to you sir. Just an idea, if you have time to burn, you can grind the forward facing edges of the stands down so they look more like a knife blade if that makes sense. I hear it helps with drag slightly.

Dont worry, everyone who was never into airplanes thinks this too.
Maybe find some aluminum or carbon fiber angle stock to fit?.
It looks like it's designed with something specific in mind which was why I was asking. Using some 90 degree aluminium angle stock it looks like your gurney flap will stick at an odd angle. Could just be the picture that looks like though I guess...
