Abe got my 3" MSM exhaust done, its a work of art. The gates of hell have opened up, holy hell is it nice and loud now. Abe took some db readings and I was spiking up to 105db at about 50'. Probably gonna have to figure out a way to quiet it down for some of the local autocross venues.

Because breathing is cool. I do it regularly, myself.

If for no other reason, do it for the kitties, Hustler. Do it for the kitties.

Hey BigD,

What are the details on what you ordered? Looks like you got it to specification to fit the stock dimension downpipe? (Or Begi of FM downpipe) Does it fit well? And it's still that loud? Looks like you got a resonator on there. Final price?

Yes, I traded him my stock dp so he could measure off of that. It's a 3" system with resonator and 6" round magnaflow. I have the Begi dp and stock turbo elbow on currently. Bolted fine to the Begi DP, but we ran into some issues with the rear ladder bracing (currently off the car). I need to run it by his shop and see if he can modify it a bit, because its currently vibrating against the rear control arm. And yes it is loud as hell.

You got any pics of it mounted up in the car? Wondering if you got it to fit up above the frame rails.

Here are some pics before I removed it. After 100+ miles the exhaust has already mellowed a bit, but not enough to meet some event sites volume limits, and I have an AX on Sunday. I think I'm gonna have to get creative to get the sound under control.

Find out where the sound tester is and clamp a 90* turn to point away from him.

That only works if they don't move the sound tester during the day. Last weekend at the Autox I was at, they moved the tester a few times to get it near a place that cars were actually going WOT.

Sadly I'm not a track ****, just doing AX, so the course layout differs each time. I am however thinking about having second exhaust tip made that reduces down to 2.5" and uses a supertrapp disc system. Easily swappable via v-band for courses that require the lower volume, or even long road trips. Shouldn't kill power too much considering the factory MSM exhaust chokes down to 2" where the midpipe and rear section join.

Big D...run mineral wells events...not sure TX region, PCA, BMW or S2k has sound limits there.

Well, I drove over to Abe's shop and had him modify the exhaust to clear rear subframe, add a new o2 sensor (don't get me started on Begi's crappy placement in the DP), and I also had him add a v-band for the swappable tip. I have a 3" tip and a 2.5" tip. The 2.5" makes the car much quieter now. Hopefully I'll be able to dyno with the both tips to see how much HP I gain/loose with the restriction.

I can't say enough about how awesome Abe is to work with.

Hopefully he'll be working on mine within the next few weeks. And I wanted to thank you for helping him out. I'm sure what he's learned from working on your MSM personally will be of much a lot of help for when he gets to mine and other MSMs later on as far as all spacing around the sub and rear bracing.

Waiting for my oil lines then I will have my exhaust from Abe. He does great work for anyone who is looking for a complete setup, I am satisfied and can't wait to get these on the car.

Abe,
I'm looking for a 3" exhaust for my 2004 MSM, I have a BEGI S4 system with a 2560R Garrett. I'd really like to do dual exit. Can you give me some numbers?

I got a quote for $450 last month just to help you out with a ballpark figure.. Might be different depending on different years/trims so don't be surprised if it's a bit off. He should be resuming fabricating in February, right now he is taking some down time. Also his email is abe@artechfabrication.com if you want to try him there.
