Begi Intake Manifold

I understand that there's only a few of these left in stock at BEGi because you are in the process of making a different design. Curious if the new one will be targeted at the big power guys or will it be for the masses?

Looks like it's going to be designed for the masses (long runner design)...Either case it should prove better flow over stock.

I doubt it.

I plan on making one this winter (well two identical ones actually). With luck I could have them replicated...

:Edit: Where is more information on this project?

I will put some more info up on the web. in the current projects section. Soon.

The idea is for it to run will all turbo cars. We will see how it works in testing.

It is possible Corky might to a 1.6L intake, I will have to ask. With it not being a casting, it is much easier to produce.

I'll send you the parts.....just needs to be held together in some fashion...preferably aluminum welding. ;)

Idea was to weld the stacks to the stock IM with the runners cut off:

+1 Puleeeeze. :)

TurboTim 10-14-2008 12:06 PM

1.6's have the injector bosses in the intake manifold, right? That's a bitch.

EDIT: I see from Scott's pic above that it does. I'm sure BEGI has the right machinery to do the bungs though.

Looks pretty nice BEGI :) please post more pics as you progress!

Braineack 10-14-2008 12:36 PM

Do it, hurry! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhh.

Why not have a IM with short runners for better flow at higher rpms? You know, like where the miata falls on its ass...

Those runners look bananas...literally!

hustler 10-14-2008 02:10 PM

want a development car? I need somewhere safe to store my car while I'm down here.

Braineack 10-14-2008 02:38 PM

I need to seriously hurry up and move to Austin.

paul 10-14-2008 03:05 PM

summer sucks, but you can spend every weekend at the track from october-may. I know no joy like that of putting on a sweatshirt and dropping the top in January.

Hell, we do that here too.

Just helps to be crazy, and drive fast enough that the snow blows past you.

disturbedfan121 10-15-2008 08:40 PM

+1 on the round about price, and i swear if you dont make one for the 1.6.........idk whats gonna happen but it won't be pretty

paul 10-15-2008 08:42 PM

You better heed his warning. Trust me, Bryan crying is not pretty.

airbrush1 10-15-2008 08:49 PM

hmmmm, my head will be off in the coming weeks.... and the car may be down for the winter...... estimated ETA?

Will you still offer the old style manifold in the future or do I need to place my order now?

UrbanSoot 10-17-2008 11:31 AM

i might be in for one if its easy enough to install (no time to fuck with it)

We ARE going to make one for a 1.6L too. No worries.

As for the castings. I have one or two left and they are gone.

Vague idea on price for the 1.6 piece? More than $400?

Why does it matter if it's 375 or 425?

You could say that about anything. At some point it is too expensive. And I know that they aren't going to commit to a solid price, that's why I phrased it that way.

Stephanie Turner 10-22-2008 06:09 PM

I do not know what the price is going to be yet. I need to price out some aluminum stuff and will do this to. I may have a ball park figure next week.

Why send it all the way to Texas? Any decent fabrication shop should be able to weld that up for you.

The idea is we want BEGi to use that as a guideline to make US one as well. :D

at least that's what i'm thinking. :)

MattEGTR 10-27-2008 01:19 AM

If the interest was there, would it be possible to do a version for those of us poor bastards with wrong wheel drive?

a few reasons.

this is one of them, hopefully.

m2cupcar 10-27-2008 10:16 AM

They're going to bolt it up and dynoing before they ship and if it makes less power you don't have to buy. If it makes more then you pay $ per hp gain? :D Then get royalties based on sales post purchase?

Braineack 10-27-2008 10:36 AM

was there any math/calculations for that design? like increase efficiency from 5500-7500 or something?

Since this is not a casting, that is a definite possibility. I will mention to Tim and Corky that there is some interest in a RHD manifold.

I think he was referring more to the BP in his Escort. In this case, wrong wheel drive being FWD. :)
