I've got to hand it to TrackSpeedEngineering on pricing their oil cooler kit so low. I just tried to price out my own kit using:
25 row Setrab
2XM22 to -10an male
2X1/2BSP to -10an male
Mocal Plate
2 90* swivel -10an female with 3ft stainless lines

After several websites I'm still within $10-20 of TSE's 25 row kit, and that isn't including shipping. Kudos Andrew.

Don't cut out your cross bracing like I did unless you no longer have the OEM hood latch. Granted, I believe the vents add back additional support. Hood was scary flimsy until I bolted them on, now it is pretty solid. I got impatient trying to cut around the bracing and decided to say, "screw it", and zipped it all off fast like. Touch up paint is sitting in a box at my bakery so I'll get the cut areas all cleaned up soon.

Seriously, it is probably because of how much people up-charge AN fittings....or something, but how are you making money on that Andrew? Some sites were charging $75 per 90º swivel -10an fittings...nuts!

I buy a lot of Setrab.

Buh? $75 for a -10 swivel 90 degree hose end? They're like $30 at Summit.

I haven't done anything really superficial for a while, and strangely really haven't felt the need to, but it happened, and I am happy.

Never really liked the "big ear" OEM mirrors very much; not because they were necessarily ugly, but due to how stiff the car was they were kinda useless. The mirrors vibrated really bad, on hard bumps they would lose their position(my fault, tension wasn't enough), and if I wanted to get to the glass/bolts, I'd have to rip the very delicate plastic trim off the housings due to them being glued on(really Mazda? Why no clips?)

I've seen several cars with the APR Formula Universal Mirrors, and I've always loved how small and streamline they looked. What I didn't like was the price. So I've looked at Ebay every night for the past couple months waiting for a used pair to come up. One finally did last week but it was just the mirrors, no stalks or hardware included. They were dirt cheap though so I figured I'd piece together something and make it work.

Luckily around the same time I bought them, I was reading a build thread where someone randomly stated they saw Slick Auto had adapters made for them, making it easy.

I think it looks great! I was worried that the size(they are tiny!) would affect my rear visibility but strangely enough they have a great field of view. I'm even going to leave them carbon fiber, instead of paint matching. I've always liked black housings for side mirrors.

Also, Revlimiter started making some awesome scuff plate stickers and he knows he has me in the palm of his hand(read: My credit card is his bitch) so he "offered" to send me some. I was perfectly happy with the stickers Rleete bought for me but I figured why not, it's not like Rev has failed me before.

I was honestly just expecting a sticker but it is a rubbery 2mm thick gel sticker that fills the hole up perfectly. It really makes the scuff plate look OEM. Thanks Adam!

Dig the mirrors. I need a set for Honey Badger. The OEM's are faded and look cruddy anyway.

Between that statement, and the plan to cut off all of the shelf, I think you have pretty much abandoned the idea of being able to return the car to stock when you decide to part with it. Wouldn't surprise me if you are realizing you will never want to part with it.

Just spent the past day and a half reading this entire build thread at work... and not accomplishing anything else. Being a sys admin has its benefits. :giggle:

All I can say is holy crap what a project.. and what an incredible amount of detail. I just got my first ever Miata and also first Mazda about two weeks ago.. a silver 99 with 140k miles and a black soft top. Traded my 1999 ranger for it. Was the best decision i've ever made. My 94 Del Sol is now for sale ;) I only dream of being able to put as much detail into my car as you have.

On a side note, have you considered running a slightly lower temp thermostat if you have cooling issues? That alum radiator is a huge mofo and I dont see any reason why it wouldn't be able to get rid of 300whp worth of heat especially with the hood vents. Even a 10 or 15 degree drop in thermostat opening temp.. down to say 180* could keep temps more in check. An engine under a large load will almost never stay at it's thermostat temp. If you are running around 210-220 race temps with a 195 thermostat and want to get those down to around 200 then maybe try a 180 or 185 thermostat. :) Just dont get crazy with it and put in a 160 "racing" thermostat. A cold engine is not a happy engine.
