This is an absolutely fantastic build thread. You can pick a page, any page, and find glorious OCD cleaning/fixing/re-zinc-plating perfection everywhere.

Oh, and photobucket's servers must hate you. :dealwithit:

Keep up the brilliant work.

mxcdale: think of a thermostat as a device that sets the minimum temp, the systems capacity to shed heat will determine the maximum. This is why removing a properly functioning thermostat from a car that constantly overheats accomplishes nothing. More reading for you here: https://www.miataturbo.net/race-prep...-thread-79930/

Jeffbucc is on the right track by making the system more efficient. Just let him do his thing mang.

I had to drop a comment and some props on this build Jeff. As others have said many times over the last 3000+ comments in the thread, your attention to detail is staggering.

The big take away I have (after reading about a dozen build threads this weekend) is that the Miata world is a lot different today than it was 20 years ago. I find it a fantastic relief that someone can go from ground zero to poster child of perfection without having to do and redo things.

(/curmudgeon hat on)
Back in my day...I would frequently have to try something out, order another thing from Japan, redo it and try it again.
(/curmudgeon hat off)

The problem with living on the bleeding edge is you need a lot of blood transfusions.

Strange to come back to the Miata world and find that with a bit of research and forethought you can pretty much get the end result you want the first time.

Glad you enjoyed it Miq, I said from the beginning I was going to make it a build thread that had pictures and good information/explanation. I enjoy threads a lot less when you don't get the whole picture about what they are doing. I never intended to go this far with it, but am not surprised knowing my personality when it comes to hobbies and my inability to not research every minutia.

I was rather lucky I had a pretty good base to start the build on. The original car had a fully assembled ms3x, built motor, Rawtek exhaust/headers, suspension, diff, 3.63 R&P, 6sp transmission, turbo, depowered steering rack, full poly, and 1.8 brakes.

You would have seen a lot less fluidity had I needed to purchase those parts. I never made a whole lot of my choices based off superficiality, I know it seems that way with several of the things I did, but mostly I was looking at it in terms of reconditioning, rust prevention, rattle prevention, and making a homologous product. Obviously there are many superficial things, but you gotta have a little refinement when fully building a car like this....right? ;)

No real updates, been too busy relaxing and working on mark IV radiator cowling for Revlimiter. It'll be totally different then the last one I did.

I spent 3 weeks reading this (I clearly sleep too much) jaw dropping build and now, at the end, props Jeff for the baddass car and your contribution to Miatadom but is it wrong of me to wish you'd sell it and start over? I mean cold weather is here, you have time, the second car would be totally bitchin and completely different. We want to rip off more of your great ideas!

2 more cars on stands! ;)

Seriously, thanks for sharing all your effort

You should have used GOLD heat shielding on the intake box, very

but can you find him driving the car?

photobucket is the worst server/host/site in the world. the fact that people still use it is beyond me.

Yes, very wrong. I'm a little too burned out still from how much effort I put into it. Glad you enjoyed it though man, I love finding me a good build thread.

I've done a couple autocross events since my last update. Not sure why you constantly beat the proverbial horse on the belief that I don't drive it? I thought we were over the "asshole" persona with me dude. It doesn't work on me like the new meat.

Photobucket isn't that bad. None of my files have disappeared, they load reliably and upload fast. Oh well, I just don't care enough I suppose.

Bought new eccentrics from 949 due to my old ones constantly slipping regardless of how hard I torqued them down. A new alignment later and after a couple autocross runs we are still in business alignment wise.

I'll have some tasty updates on things that are sitting in many boxes in a month or 2. Taking some time off to prepare and survive the holidays. One of my employees bailed right before our busiest time(she was a baker too) so I won't be doing much except surviving and sleeping on the wheat sacks in the mill room when I have down time.

I am slowly finishing Revlimiter's undertray. I just have no time, and when I do, I'm too beat to get anything productive done.

Maybe he's threatened by your prop count.

Here's a pretty picture for your thread. I was driving through it yesterday and thinking that your car (or any Miata) might enjoy life here (near Wassen, Switzerland).

Have you made it to Vegas for track time yet?

Jeffbucc 11-23-2014 01:43 PM

I want to put a blanket down on that grass with a cooler full of Sierra Nevada Torpedos and not move for a week. Beautiful.

Plan for track time that I have reserved is late January and early February at Spring Mountain in Pahrump, NV.

Earliest that I'll have time to put put aside for it sadly.

Props for man-beer

Agreed on the Photobucket thing. Plus, a lot of work servers block imgur/photobucket so Flickr is best. Plus...like 1TB of storage free. If you want to aid and abet workplace time wasting you will re-host to Flickr because brothers.

Jeffbucc 11-24-2014 11:30 AM

I love you bro, but I ain't about to go through 78 pages to rehost images. Ain't nobody got time for that.

The love is gone till I get a ride at the end of the year :) If you get the privilege of buying for me I only demand to do a barrel roll into a ditch or off a sandstone mesa to re-test your roll cage. Srs doh, can't wait to see the car come December. We're headed down for a week day after Christmas. I will make love to your sik ride bro.

EO2K 11-24-2014 01:01 PM

Ya'll mothafuckas needs imgur. Besides, MT jacks images and stores them locally.
