Spins the opposite direction. I have no clue, I think I torqued it down but I could have overlooked it and just spun it on.

If I can't find the dimensions I probably will just pull the alternator and bring it down to the alternator repair shop in town and see if they have one laying around.

Just hope I can find one before this weekend autox

Crisis averted. Went to the alternator repair shop I had mine rebuilt at, a bench test, new shiny nut torqued down, and a handshake later and we are back in business. I love people who do business like this.

lol, my dirty ass alternator looks like I bolted a turd to the side of my brand new engine

Good show, I miss being able to work with people who operate like that. I also wish I had a decent local alternator shop.

They bead blasted my casing when they rebuilt it and painted the black area. Think my place normally charges $40-50 for that, and fully rebuilt for like around $100(depending on condition), and a 3 year warranty as well.. I did mine all in trade. Bread/sandwiches/sweets for an essentially new alternator? Done.

Can't argue with you there! I am swapping labour to have my powder coating done. I am running some timber for a new deck for his old ford pick up. We both win! Car looks great as usual. Keen for video of autocross action

Did I find the Golden Ticket? 1982 B2000 R&P 3.308 gear from a manual transmission.

I bought it just in case, as they won't ship till Monday and can cancel the order if not.

Is this the correct 3.3 that is a thing of myth and legend?

Also I'm supposed to be driving down to Vegas in 1.5 hours to get tuned but wrath of god style rain is going on outside and I'm a wee bit scared to drive in it.

aidandj 07-18-2015 06:17 PM

Its a myth.

Damn, you are right, 8" diameter vs the 7" diameter of the Miata diff. Oh well, no chocolate factory for me.

Well there you have it. That's good to know.

Needs less rear R lip and more properly fitted exhaust.

hornetball 07-18-2015 10:48 PM

Just curious, did you ask them to paint the dyno the same color as your car?

jimmyneutron 07-18-2015 10:49 PM

Loving how little the car looks on the dyno ;) in for results

It does...I've messed with it for a long time and it won't come down more. Need to make a new hanger for the exhaust bracket.

well?.............

Jeffbucc 07-18-2015 11:57 PM

Just playing with timing currently and started tuning with Meth. 310 currently. Corrected roughly 350-360?

Jeffbucc 07-19-2015 03:35 AM

Forgot to ask him to email me the dyno graphs but here are a couple pulls for your entertainment. I'll get them for yah tomorrow.

Wasn't able to get meth going due to having the wrong nozzle on and forgetting to bring my smaller nozzles. It had way to heavy of a flow, and was losing 30hp upon activation.

We had to completely retune the engine. Crazy how +1 valves really changed the fuel map. Took 3 hours total to get it all together.

I was trying to decide how I wanted the engine to be tuned, and rather than have a short peaky boost map having it trail off by the end we tuned it to have one perfect linear line to have as smooth of a power delivery as possible. I want predictable power, not scary unpredictable boost spikes. This means it probably won't show a super fast spool, but it holds peak all the way to 8k rpms(new redline).

I couldn't break traction in 2nd on the previous tune but it certainly lights up the tires now! Was going to have some fun with recording some gopro videos but the roads were still wet in St George when I got back, and didn't want to chance an accident.

Out of curiosity, what size nozzle was "too big" and what do you plan on running? I have about a 3 gph nozzle & wonder if its too big.
