"Integral stage 3" is what my searching comes up with... specs unknown but seems pretty on par with what "272" cams generally seek to accomplish.
He did have 95 head, I read that as well. |

very slowly making progress.... bottom end is done. waiting on head. turning out to be a little more in depth, with the custom cams from Webb, etc.

geez...going all out...I like :)
very interested to see how your GTX plot will stack up to soviets EFR. I know its not exactly apples to apples with the cams and whatnot, but its all we got for now. |
Ultimately looking for about the same power, ~400whp. But hopefully can get there with a lot lower psi (head work, higher redline)

Just picked up the intake today. Thought I would post it up!
I went about it a little diffrent than it is commonly done. To help keep some torque, and shorten the runner a bit, I had a flange made that fits the Mazda. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1356039178 Then welding the new water jet cut Mazda flange onto the Honda intake https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1356039178 The runner spacing is close between the Mazda and the Hinda. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1356039178 A little porting will be needed to smooth things out. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1356039178 |
Thanks for posting! This is a "Godspeed" Skunk2 knockoff for anyone who is wondering. I will make a full thread with pics, TB info and any issues I ran into after it's all done with.

About that time for a monthly fail update I suppose.
The motor is getting closer to being done...still waiting on the head. In the meantime I've been working on cleaning my garage and some small stuff on the car. Put a new headunit + speakers in the car. The previous install job was very depressing.... and sounded like shit (only 1 speaker worked, off brand crap). Just went with a basic Pionner HU with aux input, and Polk DB571 5x7 speakers. Nothing amazing, but light years better than what was in there before...plus I has aux input, which is the biggest thing I needed. My soft top has a rip in it, plus I much prefer the hard top, so I pulled the whole soft top out today. Thing is heavy, it's gotta be pretty much the same weight as the hard top, or heavier. Saved some weight, and got a bunch of extra space behind the seats. I re-did the EGT circuit as well (so I can wire EGT straight to MS, for datalogging/display, etc.). My first job was kinda embarassing, and didn't actually fit inside the box I got for it... v2 much better. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1358610370 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1358610370 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1358610370 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1358610370 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1358610370 |

I've always had an issue/disliked having the ecu mounted in the standard NB location (up between the clutch and brake pedal). Pain in the butt to get to, after having to pull ecu a few times now I have been looking for a better option..this is what I came up with. Two zip ties in the front and it's rock solid, not in the way of my legs at all, with my bucket seats. Very easy to get to and install/remove.

Interesting speaker change. As an audio noob, I'm curious as to how those sound vs. the round door speaker that is traditionally used.
Looks good, Aaron. |

Looks good, Aaron. I may throw another set of the same speakers in the rear shelf if I want a bit more volume, but I have a feeling I will be happy as-is. |

Getting close to 1.5 years of engine-less Miata. The engine build has been taking forever obviously. Most recent/last hiccup is getting the head done. My builder is getting stuck on/taking forever to make my custom cams work from Web. Due to the higher lift, I either need to enlarge the lifter bores and run larger 33mm buckets, or now I am also looking into trimming the sides of the bores enough to make clearance. I've spoken with ctdrftna about it, since he is running even more aggressive cams than what I have, and made it work by trimming the sides of the bores.
I haven't been able to even get in contact with my builder for over a month now and I don't really know/trust any of the other local shops in my area- does anyone have any recommendations for a high quality machine shop and one that will get things done on schedule? Willing to ship this thing wherever at this point, just to get it done. Here's a picture of what ctdrftna did on his, you can see the milling on the bottom of the bores, and sharpied on the top edges, for more material to be removed via die grinder. His cams have around .070" more lift than mine on both the intake and exhaust side, so it would probably not have to be quite as much material removed...but same idea. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1371527004 |
Wow, bummer about the builder taking forever man, I was wondering what's going on with your build.
Isn't BogusSVO building it for you? |
18psi,
I'm out of the country a lot- basically nothing seems to get done when I'm gone. Either way it's taken forever for sure. I get back in about a month and need/want to get this thing on the road for the 4 months I'll be home! Bogus is indeed doing it..... originally another shop in Pensacola was going to be doing the head machine work related stuff, but that fell thru. Not sure if he's just not comfortable doing it, or if he fucked it up and not avoiding me, or what. If I get back and it's not done I may grab a stock 99-00 head and throw it on if I can find one quickly. |
Can't wait to see this thing finally come together. Good luck finishing her up.

I'm also really debating getting a MS3 to replace the DIYPNP.... some built in knock control features would be nice after all the money and time that has went into the engine, etc. Plus I think I'm just getting bored and looking for something to work on/do. Any MS2E to MS3X converts?

Thanks Troy. That is something I do have at home and could probably just do myself. Hopefully the head isn't messed up otherwise.

I hope everything is ok with your cyl head.
I had all my porting done by Rebello Racing which is in California. They seem to be more involved with Nissan motors these days, but they have done their fair share of Miata motors, and have built championship winning motors. I prefer to do business with shops that are higher up on the totem pole in motorsport accomplishments. |
