Cooler is pre filter though.

So what keeps the oil from draining back from the cooler. And if it drains back what should the level be when not running.
Any reason not to just check oil when running? |
Lots of the oil is in the head and vertical passages.
You might contact @hornetball regarding what he does. It's in a themread somewhere, but I don't remember where. He has cooler lines pointing down. |
Yeah. I didnt have this issue before. Just put a gallon in and good to go. I'll drain the pan and add 4 quarts. See how that goes next track day.
|
Drained the pan. Plug had zero metal on it. Put in 4 quarts. Need to do some front end ducting to try and bring oil temps down. Have some cardboard templates made. Will cut out of aluminum this week. Track day on Thursday. First time instructing so I'll probably end up focused more on that than my car.
|
When I'm instructing 2 students, I jump from car to car to car all day long and have literally zero time to mess with my car. Even finding the time to make a tire pressure or rebound adjustment is difficult.

Some more data points from logs at the track.
Max Transmission temp of 204. I'm most likely under 200hp. Max EGT of 1450. Very retarded spark map, but low boost. I'd definitely want inconel valves before turning it up on track. Maxing out my 1kpsi brake pressure sensor. Still gives cool video overlays. |

lol single digits top rows looks like an evo map
but overall on point. did you run into det with more boost/spark or is this "just in case"? |
I ran into what I believe was det earlier in the tuning process. I also had leaky stem seals, and a lot of oil in the intake stream. And didn't have det cans in at the time.
25psi pulls without det cans were not the best idea, but the boost bug bit. The way I see it I'm only running low boost on the track for now, so stock exhaust valves will stand a chance. Inconel exhaust valves appear to be very necessary at any higher boost on track though. Highest EGT on the street i've seen was like 1250. Even at 15+psi. Track I'm seeing 1450 at 5-7psi. |
sustained load and rpm tend to generate serious heat.
is it e85 time yet? it would not have this problem :) |

I wish. We have one station in town. And its 45 minutes from me. And at my 2 home tracks there isn't any. I also don't need any more power on the track. I have plenty of rope to hang myself with, and a lot left in the car. I'd like to get some stiffer springs and some aero. And drop a few more seconds at PIR.
|
Built motor and EFR. Only runs 5psi. wtf dude.
|
See above. Car has a lot more in it that I'd like to extract as a driver before I turn up the boost.
|
He has logs to 30psi.
How big are your balls? |
