Of course that was the first 500 miles of its life, so hopefully the usage goes away entirely.

Stock - rebuilt motor? Or just a stock junkyard motor? How many miles are on it? Maybe it just needs some more miles on with lots of accel/decel.
Any built motor is going to use *some* oil. My Built engine with Wisecos used 1qt over the last 2500 miles. Granted 1300 of those miles were for the Gap trip and it got run really hard for many of those miles spending a ton of time in boost. When i drive it less aggressively it uses very little

Mine is using stock pistons, but I told the builder to gap the rings to the "loose end of OEM specs". He asked me how much boost I was going to run, I told him 20PSI max. He gapped it as he saw fit from there. Thanks for the re-assurance.

So if you drive it super hard in boost constantly it never even used a drop....alright. Then you have a better ring seal than I do I guess, every built motor with forged slugs Ive ever had will use some oil not a lot but it happens. Have you driven your car on backroads or the track constantly in and out of boost going WOT for hours on end? I bet you would use some oil, its nearly impossible to drive a car that hard and have it use NO oil.

Yeah... None. Super-tech slugs with Wiesco rings(pretty sure this is what 949 recommends), slaps like crazy when cold. Ebay rods.
Even my race boat motor that runs WOT for literally entire sessions at a time uses NO oil. Even after 2 seasons.

You know what uses oil? my tow vehicle. About a quart ever 500 miles when towing at capacity. But GM will say that's normal. My point is, using some oil isn't that big of a deal.

Well thats awesome man, I wish my car used no oil but im ok with a little bit if its not excessive. I dont even get any piston slap except for 2-3 seconds after initial start then she quiets right down. Every engine is different for sure.

My lovely wife followed me and took some video. As long as I don't engine brake, it seems not to smoke.

@gesso might have a freewheel that could help with that

You lift, you lose... oil.

Mine doesn't burn oil either. 949 pistons and rings broken in relatively hard to make the Rings seat.

If your rings are set up loose then you will use a little more oil.

I've got about 8 or 9 laps down. Looking good so far.

Couple people who were behind me said they didn't see any smoke, so maybe it isn't too bad on track.

Going to log the next session, and still trying to figure out if I'm burning any oil.
