I wonder why they just have them collecting like that? Most of them look like they're biodegrading already, why not recycle them or otherwise get them out of there? |

Time for water lines. I assume normal heater lines will be fine for now? I found some m12x1.5 (which I think is what my coolant lines are) to 5/16ths hose barb which matches my coolant feed lines.
Anything wrong with that? |
Currently looking at 3 options:
1) Turbo Water Pipe Kit M12x1 5mm Volvo Saab TD04H 15T 19T Fit 1 2" Plug Hose | eBay Get that and find a way to make the half-inch hose reduce to the 5/16ths I have on the inlet manifold now. 2) 2 of plus 2 1/8th inch NPT to 5/16th hose barb. Or 2 of http://www.ebay.com/itm/Speedflow-5-16-8mm-Barb-to-Metric-M12-x-1-5-Push-On-Hose-Fitting-414-M12-05-/140986097775?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20d36d206f&vxp=mtr: if I can find any that would get here before January 3) Get all fancy and run AN lines using the same AN banjo bolt I am using for my oil lines. I can run AN to NPT on my mixing manifold. So my only issue would be an AN source somewhere on the Intake manifold side. Any ideas? Suggestions? |
Wow M12x1.5 to 5/16 is not easy to find...
I finally found something that I think will work well. Will this provide enough coolant flow? Banjo and Bolt Washers 12 x 1 5 Thread Bolt Head 17mm Eye Union Line 8mm 5 16 | eBay |
Also finished rebuilding my turbo today. The guys at Bell Turbo did an awesome job and helped me out to no end. This thing looks like new.

I think most people, me included, use m12x1.5 to AN adapters.
You can also skip the water cooling for now and figure it out later. It's not necessary on a water cooled turbo to actually water cool it. |
Do I need to plug the inlets or anything?
|
Nope, not unless you only have one side hooked up. It's just a cavity that fills with water and spits out the other side. As far as I know, it can be run permenately without water, however it would be benificial to eventually hook it up.
|
Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'll run no water until I can get the AN thing figured out.

Going to start building the manifold tomorrow. Plan is to do a low mount flowish log. I've been mocking it up in solidworks and I think it should work well.

That's already a bit sloppy on the side for the 2nd pipe. Get the gap as close as possible before welding.

Also can someone tell me how to connect my drain line to the turbo? Stock the turbo has a gasket and 2 bolts and I'm hoping someone makes an an adapter for this? I did some googling but didn't really know where to start. Here are some pictures: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1417902840 EDIT: Nevermind. My google skills must have shit the bed because I just tried again and found one in a few minutes. Makes sense why this shit is expensive from Abe/FM/etc. Its fuckin hard. But fun. 2 days down and way too much time spent driving to the parts store. But the collector is done for now. http://i62.tinypic.com/fn9y1l.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/a1n9jd.jpg |
Well if it spools it wins. Fun stuff.
