I like your knock sensor. Where did you get it? With det cans, I sometimes don't trust my hearing, especially given all the noise at a typical dyno location -- I like the idea of a clear display.

Hello Rick,

I have bought it from here:

http://www.phormula.com

Mine is the KS-4 but I also have the Interface Kit so I can connect my headphones to it, like some electronic det cans. I have bought this because a friend of mine has this brand in high regard, his work is mapping Rally Cars and Hill Climb cars, so I followed his advice.

Hello guys,
Iīm frustrated, I am really frustrated. Let me tell you guys the whole story.

After I detonated the engine I bought two engines, one Bp4w that was from a salvage car and one 94 Engine that had the head removed due to a head gasket problem. My goal was to change the belts/water pump on the Bp4w and keep the 94 Engine for a forged build during the summer.

As the BP4W arrived I noticed that I looked like a pile of ****. I am not kidding, it seemed the Anchor of the Titanic due the amount of rust that it had, also a massive oil leak on the front (more on that later…).

As I removed the Oil pan I noticed that it had already been removed because was full off gasket seal. As I removed it the oil seemed like…crude. Well, this is not going well I tough. I removed the Cam cover and noticed that the cover gasket was installed incorrectly (How can someone mess that up?) so it was losing oil, lotīs off oil to the front of the engine. Timing belt, water pump all cover in oil. But, despite that the condition off the head seemed ok to me:

Today I removed the Crank pulley, removed the oil pan baffle (?) where the oil pick up tube is attached and to my surprise I find metal filings…lotīs off metal filings.

So, right now I am at my dinner table eating and in the next hour or so will remove the rod bearings the check them out .

So, this is it…

Hello guys,

So the bearings look like this.

I see some scratches, but if i pass my nail i canīt feel them. Are these the stock bearings?

What do you think? Re-use or install new bearings?

I'd clean the head and swap on the 94 block. Then use the bp4w as you forged build base

Well the engine is in the car for a long time but simply had been with lot of work and the time for the Miata has been almost none.

Since it was in the garage I could not help myself buying some stuff for it .
Proper Wheels, new tires, new steering wheel, lowered the driver seat by 1/2 inch and some other small stuff

Pictures?

Steering Wheel

And Wheels !

Almost 3 years have gone by since my last update here?Damn.

Well, the car has been standing still. Other priorities have showed up (Other Job position and Life in general) and the NA has been collecting dust. So to redeem myself i decided to tear it apart to rebuild the engine the proper way and give some attention to other areas.

Regarding the engine, itīs the Bp4w as before but with some (small) improvements:

- Balanced bottom end
- Eagle Rods
- Stock Pistons with new Rings
- Acl Bearings
- Boundary Oil Pump
- Arp Studs everywhere
- Oem Gaskets
- Flat Top Intake
- Skunk2 Tb
- Vss Valve Springs

And thatīs it i think. The goal is the same 240/250 Hp as before but with more reliability and maybe 280 Hp if i want to.

Besides that i decided to strip the entire engine bay to repaint, and also removed the front sub frame to sent it to blasting and powdercoat it along with the suspension arms.

Since the NA has been collecting dust i had been driving the hell out of my ND

Did i mention i also bought a NB?

1.8 with 51 000 miles, Lsd, Air Con, Power steering.

Tried to keep it stock. Failed until now. Nothing special but some minor mods.
- Oem Front Lip
- Upgraded Brake Pads
- Stainless brake Lines
- Racing Beat Exhaust
- Cobalto Intake
- 6 Speed Gearbox
- Lightweight Flywheel
- Exedy Stage 2 Clutch
- NB2 Seats
- NB2 center Console
- HR sways

And probably a bunch off stuff that i seem to forget

Update was due

The Red NA is back on the road since the beginning of 2019. The spec Is the usual J Built motor, boundary oil pump, flat top manifold, skunk2 tb, Supermiata coolant re route and so on J

Some pictures of the bastard

And since my financial decisions are not always the most wise … I bought my teenage dream car.

Mitsubishi Evo 6 RS2.

So at the moment I need a bigger garage to stash all the toys.
