so its not starting. I have fuel, and I have 12v at the COP harness. Any ideas?
is there something i need to do with megatune while i try and start it?
Any ideas???
Do you have spark? that's necessary. So is compression.
I'm getting power at the COP harness, but I lost my helper and can't check for spark at the plug while cranking all by myself. I do believe that the COPs are working, as they were tested and in working order when I bought them.
I've decided to just bring the car to the tuner (dentsport) to diagnose the issue, as well as break in the motor and then dyno tune. I'll be calling them tomorrow to set up the appointment.

I took a picture of the engine bay (as it's more or less finished) today on my phone for your viewing pleasure:
Attachment 197103 Note the cut valve cover, the vac block mounted on the firewall, the catch can mounted to the fuse box bracket, and the new apexi filter, to hit on the big ticket items. I have a buddy coming over tomorrow to try a couple things on the no-start situation, so hopefully we can get it sorted! |
But, WILL IT START? :D
Double check timing. If you really want to know if you have spark just pull the plug and try cranking it for a second. Make sure the plug isn't near the hole for the plug so you don't make a fireball.

Fireball of AWESOME. Do it.
My buddy is coming over tomorrow night to give it a shot, so we'll see.

Went out after work and played around for a little bit. I took the bumpers off the car in preparation for paint and cleaned things up a bit. I also borrowed a real camera and took some good pictures.
Here's a good shot of the engine bay: Attachment 197095 and one of the catch can/vac block: Attachment 197096 And one of the garage: Attachment 197097 |
Paint is done with the exception of the front and rear bumpers, and also the final wetsanding/buffing. I'm very pleased with the results. Pics to follow!
Finished up the rear bumper and gas cap, but I ran out of paint for the front bumper :vash:. Going to disassemble the booth and clean out the garage tomorrow, as well as take all the plastic off the car, then it's time to try and fire it up again. Hopefully with the new megasquirt it should start right up this time.
GL, been watching this for awhile now!

Overall I'm very pleased with the results- not bad for my first time painting a car! After it's running I'll give it a wetsand/buff/polish to make it really shine. |
Looks like your a wet sand and a buff away from a great looking car. I would have pulled the front fenders before painting but if you really need to you could always do some touch up behind them.
