Any specific places you cut holes?/if any? What type of grommets or fasteners did you use? How hard was it to pull the wires threw? Any connections need to be unplugged or moved?

Just a little more detail if you dont mind:) I've watched this thread from start to finish and love every page of it.

p.s. how was the rx7 tranny swap as far as difficulty? Would you do it over again and would you change any thing?

I ran the wire through the openings for the airbag sensors, along the subframe, and basically any place I could find where they would be out of sight and just drilled a bunch of holes to hold the insulated hose clamps. I soldered everything. You have to unplug everything, cut off all the connectors, pull the wires through, lengthen/shorten, then solder the connector back on. It's not really hard so-to-say, but it sure is time consuming. I think I spent a solid 8 hours doing this wire tuck. Hopefully it starts!

As far as the tranny goes, if you're good at fabbing up brackets and welding it's a piece of cake. You just have to triple check everything and take your time. I can't really comment on if I would do it again or not as I haven't driven with it yet.

ha, nah. They are CUCV axles (dana 06 front, dana 70 rear). Detroit in the front, welded in the rear.

my wire tuck was a little different. I just removed everything and soon I'm going to do some pruning with dikes. My car gets lighter every day.

Dont worry man. I'm a photo taken fool. I will be posting my build for the last 7 months soon.

Still a lot more to do. Still working on my jeep, so progress on the car has come to a screeching halt.

Don't forget to pull the p/s pump and loop the rack. Then you can turn that reservoir into the ultimate stealth catch can. :bigtu:

I was about to say the same think while looking for the A/C compressor. :)

I'm going to run p/s for now, eventually I may ditch it.

IMO powersteering on a Miata on a track at speed is frightening. The load on wheel through a turn at over 60mph is nearly non existant - it feels like the front tires have a 100psi in them. But OTOH p/w in a miata is great for parallel parking, which you'll probably be doing a lot of in this car. ;)

Hi. I'm looking at your build (tranny swap) and got a couple of questions. First, if you sum up everything, how much did you spend not taking labor into account? What I mean is, cost of the tranny, metal plate (adapter plate), clutch, driveshaft, etc.. What was the width on the metal plate? Where did you find the clutch and was it for a TII or for the Miata? How much hp do you think it'll hold? I'm looking to do the same build as I already trashed mine @ 300hp and want to have an idea on the budget I need to gather for this build.
Thanks for your attention,
alexturbo

Just get a 6speed transmission.

How much hp do you think or know the 6 speed will hold?
