I really haven't decided if I'm using the FPR yet, but it's brand new and I got a great deal on it, so if i don't use it I can always get my money back. I have a dual feel rail that doesn't allow the stock fpr to be bolted to it, so that was my original thought as to using an external fpr, but we'll see. Yes, I'm going to be using Megasquirt most likely. The head was done by a shop out near Bighamton NY, I'll have to check on the name again, if you're really interested, but I forget off the top of my head now. I'm still waiting on the Mazdaspeed diff mounts to arrive so I can start on the TII rear...:vash:

More parts, this time, carbon goods :D

Autokonexion came through big time for me with a trunk- what a work of art!!!! I'm so impressed with the work that went into it. It is absolutely perfect.

Nope. If I run into trouble, I'm going to make an LED one, but we'll see.

Got a little bit done, blew up the transfer case in my jeep so that ate up a lot of my time.

The turbo arrived. GT2871R, .60in, .63 ex

My friend with the buggy also got it all finished, we went for a victory lap in his backyard...here's a pic:

Neither one are bolted down completely, and I will have to tweak the mounts to get them to sit properly, the hood was hitting the bump stops, and I don't think it was latched in the pictures either. I'm very happy with them though, they are great products.

I went to install my new fuel pump (walbro 255) and realized that the lower bar of my cage was in the way. There was no way in hell I was going to take that out again, so I just got the sawzall and cut it. I'm going to make some slip joints and bolt it back in place in case I ever have to get to the fuel pump again. Here's a pic of the cut, I forget to take pics during the fuel pump install, but that's not exciting anyways

That's it for now, it was a very lazy build day, I'll admit it.

m2cupcar 05-16-2008 09:00 AM

all you had to do was drop the fuel tank ;)

yeah I thought of that after I had already started cutting, oh well.

cardriverx 05-16-2008 10:18 AM

with the diff in the way and everything, I woulda cut the rollbar too, much easyer.

TurboTim 05-16-2008 10:48 AM

Sick, slick build. Very nice. All in a garage too, I'm impressed.

hustler 05-16-2008 11:13 AM

cool. Any pics of that hood with better lighting?

exactly. Plus it's much easier to jsut cut the bar than get under the car and unbolt everything

I'll try and take some more this weekend, and if I get to it, I'll actually bolt it down and adjust it too this time.

Most of the work was done outside in my driveway, it's up in this garage now for the welding.

Thanks for all the compliments!

naarleven 06-01-2008 10:21 AM

very cool, 'scribed!

What sort of spool characteristics do you expect out of the 2871r?

I have a 2871r .64 out of a 240 project I had a while back that I'm thinking about implementing.

18psi 06-24-2008 07:01 PM

wow, im speechless at how great this project is going...congrats man, very impressive...and i think i just fell in love with the turbo you're using as well as the trunk....both were on the "to get" list for my future miata, but now are on the "must have" list :D

I know it's not much of an update, but I have been getting things done. I haven't remembered the camera the past few weekends I've been working on the car...my apologies. BUT, I do have a few pics for you. My rear wheels just came in today and I am so impressed with them that I just had to share....

Ehhh stretch looks terrible imo.

cardriverx 07-10-2008 11:15 PM

yeah I woulda gone with flares and 255 tires.

mighty mouse 07-10-2008 11:16 PM

hate hate hate! Tires were on the rims and I got a smokin deal. I'm going to run them until it's time for an upgrade- No sense in replacing something brand new
