OP, I can't tell you how many times I've been tempted to buy that thing when it's come up for sale. I wish I did.... |
Nice looking car, in all it's iterations. Nothing like a good hobby to keep you busy :)

cheers for the comments.
Picked some stuff up from ceramic coating today. I had the manifold and rear housing done in flat black. Will post photos tomorrow :) in other news, i tested the wheels and wing to see how it ties in. Camber in the rear is still too much for me. I am doing the bushings and diff over the weekend so ill get some offset bushes to put in. That should help :) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1323945078 IMG_4214 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1323945078 IMG_4218 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1323945078 IMG_4219 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1323945078 IMG_4220 by charlie_2011, on Flickr |

Update :D
So over the weekend ive got every thing done that i wanted to :) With a help of a mate we removed all the remaining control arms and the diff, and today i ran my new fuel lines :) The fuel lines were a pain in the arse.. first getting the old lines out, and then trying to fit the new ones down behind the fuel tank :(. Got it done anyways but the hose that was provided is so long so i think i pulled it to tight and need to put a bit of slack in it or its just meant to be like that :P So tomorrow im going down to drop off the diff and control arms to fit up the New Tomei trax 2 way and fit the bushings and ball joints :) Anyways, heres some pics https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324183566 IMG_4225 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324183566 IMG_4226 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324183566 IMG_4229 by charlie_2011, on Flickr |

But i can finally say my car is back on the ground again :) With the help of mates re put the suspension and diff back in :D Control arms recieved new poly bushing with offset bushings for the camber ones as well as new balljoints. The diff got the Tomei trax lsd put in as well :) Photos speak for them selves.. Needs the front lip badd as well as the height set properly on all four corners Firstly set everything out https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324977529 IMG_4253 by charlie_2011, on Flickr Back on all four https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324977529 IMG_4264 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324977529 IMG_4265 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324977529 IMG_4267 by charlie_2011, on Flickr |

Figured i should update this thread.
So while i started prepping ---- in the bay, i decided to drop the motor off to get built :) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4310 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 photo-24 by charlie_2011, on Flickr That was finished later that week and i didnt really wanna waste time so i went out and bought a gazebo and put the motor back in the car in the rain lol :P https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4324 by charlie_2011, on Flickr Finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4328 by charlie_2011, on Flickr Got a mate to come round and do my cooler piping https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4376 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4373 by charlie_2011, on Flickr Then it was off to the workshop to get the final things done like turbo lines and other misc stuff https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4387 by charlie_2011, on Flickr Fast forward to the end of march and the car was getting ready to go off to get run in on the dyno. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 photo-39 by charlie_2011, on Flickr That day came and went and i finally got it back after 6 months in the build. Now lets talk numbers. It made 200rwkw on 1 bar with no timing and a lot of fuel. So this was very conservative. The tuner brought it back down to 160ish rwkw on 8 psi to let me put more km's on it driving on the street. The day i bought it back i gave it a good clean :) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4606 by charlie_2011, on Flickr Interior shot. Note the dash ;) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4611 by charlie_2011, on Flickr Final shot of the bay https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 Engine Bay by charlie_2011, on Flickr In all its track attire https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4621 by charlie_2011, on Flickr https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1335226504 IMG_4622 by charlie_2011, on Flickr So as of today. The car has been taken back to the workshop to get a check up after the 1000kms. There it will also get a new removable rear section for the street. I have a track day on the 2nd of may which im excited about and then after that its off to get re tuned and hopefully make around 210 rwkw ;) Now.. Some drive by vids |
you aren't getting enough praise for this build, this miata is bad***
|
One of my top 3 favorite Miatas. You mentioned the wing mounts were custom, do you happen to have a CAD file or anything?
|
the actual mounts are pretty easy to make .. its just the stands.. Hold up ill see if i can dig something up ;)
Edit: nope cant seem to fine the drawings :( pm me if u want detailed pics ? |
I've got mounts to take measurements for the trunk/wing mounts, just need an idea of general design.
I think I'm going to CAD wieners into mine.... |
Arghh! Youtube vids aren't working for me!!!!!!! Fix now so I can beat off!
|
|
Epic build Charlie. i remember back in the day when you were looking at a kit i was selling :). I'm so jelous that ur tracking those wheels, last i looked they were over 1k a piece to get to tassie. Glad you stuck with it and ended with a ride to be proud of!.
Cheers Scott |
I'm going to copy your interior now.
|
Cheers guys. The interior took a lot of work. And a lot of cutting out :)
|
it almost sounds like an n/a miata down low!
|
Love the I/C piping! That must have taken a while.
