my s10 build thread hasnt had much attention either due to the miata hogging all my time. priorities
still doing the brake conversions, let me know when youre ready and i can get you what you need.
i went ahead and pulled the trigger on one of those intercoolers last night. hopefully mine shows up like yours.

I know that feel! Miatas are too much fun...
I still don't even know what axle I'm using in the S10, still holding out for a 4x4 8.5" that's not a ZR2. I don't want an 8.8, but I forget why... Once I finally figure it all out, I'll be in touch!
Good luck with that intercooler, if it shows up wrong don't ever mention feedback in the ebay resolution center. They take that as open season to screw you over real good.

i scored an 8.5 from a 2wd pickup for $250 after looking for a couple years. you dont want the 8.8 because you have to relocate the perches and either redrill the flanges for 5x4.75 or have dual patterns, or run adapters. but an 8.8 isnt a unicorn and is supported well by the aftermarket.
you are 2007pontiacg5 btw, i peeked at your build. no updates in over a year! if you get a disc rear, or do a blazer swap i can help you with e/p brake adapters too.
i too got it as the only bidder for $61, so it really isnt the end of the world if it sucks and they wont admit it.

So I ported my turbo wastegate, because racecar
Also made a short video of my loud rattle filled miata
The case of my crummy turbo muffler that came on my car popped, cracked, something. It's stupid loud and annoying now, so I wrapped in in duct tape in a hilarious attempt to shut it up. That didn't work, so I added a small block of wood and more tape. Winning
Really need to do the turbo stuff, or install 3" 5x11x22 on stock 1.6 lol

Finally got my RS232 bluetooth adapter working, mostly. ShadowDash still won't work, connects but won't stay connected. MSdroid works perfect though, and honestly seems like a better app. Using the same adapter, just a new phone.
For a ten buck adapter, and the free MSdroid app I'd say it's worth it. Can even change most all of the tune, added a few points to my PWM cranking duty the other morning as an example. Coldest start I've ever seen, could tell it wanted to grab with a little throttle manipulation. A few points more in the IAC valve and it turns right over.

So I started tearing the Miata apart. Started with the intercooler plumbing, because I figure I can still drive the thing if I stick a filter on the hotside if I don't go "all the way" at once.
I was able to find a undertray on CL for super cheap, I'm hoping my previous owner just removed it, then removed the thermostat because it overheated. Either way, figured it'd be nice to have before hanging all this stuff.
For some reason, I wanted 2.25" hotside and 2.5" cold side. I wish I bought bends for 2.25 or even 2.00 the whole way because this stuff is tight. I was able to bend AC lines out of the way, and push the AC dryer up a bit, but I had to remove the condenser fan for any hope of clearing power steering stuff. It's broken anyway, my miata is a salvage in case you were wondering
Anyone mind sharing what they did for the IAC valve plumbing? I'd like to weld a bung in, using locally available pieces if possible. Thinking electrical conduit...

Finished the cold side this weekend...
I used a 1/2" conduit coupler and a 1/2" to 5/8" barb fitting, figured out you can rotate the IAC inlet so it all lines up nice and neat.
I'm using a cheap ebay BOV, picked up a SS v-band adapter to make it work.
Put the IAT sensor outside the undertray, hopefully keep it from heatsoaking too badly. I still need to weld in a 1/8NPT port for my wastegate reference, think I'll just cannibalize a hex nut, since I have a tap already.
I plan on powder coating all this stuff, if I can find a way to hold em in my oven.
This is fun, I wish places were still open so I could keep going

I decided, after testing a small piece, that I'd probably waste more cash in gas than I'd ever save from just taking the aluminum somewhere to be welded. I'll have templates, if I ever want aluminum for some reason. This is so much faster, and still pretty cheap. I'm only $280 or so into my plumbing, and that includes the 3" for my exhaust. Another $35 or so in couplers, ten bucks for 15 stainless clamps at fastenal.
I thought about aluma-welding wings on my intercooler endtanks, but I found a easier way to mount it, plus it holds my undertray up now. It's cool stuff though, I may still use it for stuff like coil brackets or heat shields. Still trying to figure out how to mount these fat LS2 coils on the cheap...

So I've got to get rid of my power steering reservoir if I want to fit my pipes all nice and neat, which isn't that big of a deal to me. I'll just loop the lines...
But, I don't really care to have AC for much more than clearing the windows in the rain. I never could get them dry without the AC running, and that's really the only reason I want to keep it at this point. Am I just dumb and don't know how to work the vents right, or is the dehumidifier effect of the AC really that effective? I remember it being particularly bad when driving through the mountains.
I'm just going to leave it hanging for now, figure out some shims or a new idler later unless some of you can convince me otherwise

Finished deleting the power steering, and tapped the pan. That was stupid easy, I used an electric impact to run the tap in. Somehow I managed to fit the massive 45 degree 10AN fitting under the compressor, actually really happy with how it fits around the rack and radiator hose. Busted my oil feed adapter off in the block, great fun. The 1/8 female NPT adapter was a horrible idea.
Waiting for new oil feed parts, guess I'll finish the exhaust and downpipe in the meantime.
I'm loving this thing, it makes quick straight cuts in this mild steel real easy.

Besides my busted oil feed, it's been pretty fun!
Here's my oil return, it's hanging loose on the other end in this pic. I'm not applying the JB weld till I've got the hose installed on both ends, seems a good idea to not stress it as much.
My tools of choice, follow me at your own risk. I did have the block under pressure, but my compressor tank is tiny, so I'm glad this went fast.
Center punch, a 1/8" pilot, 1/4" pilot same as the hole saw, then the hole saw. 3/8" shank, though it didn't really matter much to me. I paid like $12 bucks for both the hole saw and tap on ebay. My first shot at LS2 coil bracket is in there too, going to fit them in the stock location. Planning on making a bracket much like the stock coil bracket, then just slotting half the coil mounting holes, so they drop over the bracket, pinched in place with hex nuts. I may be able to use stock wires this way, for a while at least.
Random photo, my Homak tool box mentioned in another post and the car I've been driving while my Miata is down. It's no Miata, but it's still a whole lotta fun!
Lovely, lovely bead welds on my hot and cold side plumbing. I wish I ordered one more 2.5" 90 bend, then I could have done the cold side in one piece. Eh, still only have 6 couplers total, I'm happy with that. Taking these home to my bathtub, so I can clean and coat them. I need one of those massive shop utility sinks bad!
And the busted fitting in my block, still haven't tried to extract it yet...
New plan is M10x1.5 to 4AN male fitting, followed by a 4AN swivel elbow. From there I'm just gonna make my own 4AN line to the oil restrictor on the turbo. Sure hope those parts ship fast...

Started on my exhaust, got the massive magnaflow hung before I ran out of steel rod.
Made a fourth exhaust hanger out of an old tow hook. Stupid muffler is heavy as hell...
Came up with this for my LS2 coils. I extracted them from the metal cages, then did some real hacking. I should be able to replace any bad coils still, without too much headache. Going to try and run stock wires for a minute.
Also managed to get the busted oil feed fitting out of my block without any major drama. If i get the exhaust finished this weekend, I should have my new oil line Tuesday. Then, turbo time
