Found my boost leak.

 

Well, it's been a long time. I'm finally yanking it back out for a rebuild.

I ordered a set of 94.5's (it was already 94) and really hoping machine work goes well.

I went through the data log from the day the engine expired.
...For interstate cruising i had set the afr to a lean 16:1, because gas mileage. All the boost was 12.4 or something.

the engine actually melted during a cool down lap,, after a few fast ones.. cool down was unfortunately in the lean cruise. It never got a chance to cool. Quite the opposite.

So no more gas mileage. It will eat plenty of fuel next time.

 

Well now I feel much better about having always tuned my engines to do 14.5-15 at cruise, even when N/A.
