I assume those are the ones that popped up in the BST forum a week ago? If I had money burning a hole in my pocket I would've snagged them, but I guess we can't have all the same parts on our cars

Haha, thanks guys. Yeah, overdue for sure. I was gonna hold off another year with this rx7 build ongoing but they popped up for sale here and I had just gotten a nice bonus, so it kinda just happened.

They are used, from this forum and were on a track only car. Recently rebuilt by inertia labs so ready to go for the season. They are the exact spring rates I would have chosen and have the coax mounts. 900f 500r. They are in great condition and I'm psyched to try them out!

Maybe not what you expected?

I went with this AGR fab knockoff BBFW spoiler. I wanted the BBFW unit but they only sell it without hardware and wouldn't reply to my emails. That said this thing is super nice and way thicker plexiglass than the BBFW, so it's super sturdy.

The reason for going spoiler is simple, I didn't want to lose rear down force at the track, and on the street I want my car to be more unassuming. 4 bolts and I can swap trunks in a snap. With the quick release splitter in the front I can go from no aero to full aero in less than 15 mins.

Local track is slow enough I might end up with more usable down force with this. I dig the look, too.

Snow finally melted from in front of the shop and I could get the car out. It ran perfect and was super enjoyable to drive. Dirty as can be though!

That new lexan spoiler looks great on your car! I'm loving the blue and black look too. Probably doesn't hurt that blue is my favorite color.

Just curious, why not run the two together? One trunklid to rule them all, just trim it back down when the wing is installed.

The knockoff looks great! I kind of wish I had gone this route with a spare trunklid instead of trying to make my own half decent adjustable spoiler setup.

I'm not sure what happened with BBFW lately. Prices went way up and he's hard to get a hold of. I believe I recall reading he was moving upmarket into Porsches. If you've only got so many hours in the day and a line of customers out the door, you might as well get more money from each one.

Thanks guys! I'll be picking up some tires soon, I'd like to hit at least one trackday next month.

I thought about it, but the 9LR street wing is chassis mounted so it kinda defeats the purpose here. I'm trying to keep this car enjoyable on the street and part of that for me is being able to detach aero. I am interested to see how this spoiler feels at the track though, and how it balances with the splitter. I might trim it down if needed.

I wouldn't expect you'd need to trim it in any case - just adjust it flat and it should have little aerodynamic effect. I ended up switching to the 9LR Street **** before I really got a chance to do much with my Blackbird Spoiler but one of the guys I run with on the track has had a BB spoiler on his car for years and he says he doesn't see much difference in handling no matter how he has it adjusted.

We clearly need some wind tunnel and downforce analysis for some proper numeric comparisons since seat-of-the-pants metrics can be...less than accurate.

Oh yes, of course, I meant trimming my front splitter. It's 4" past the lip and I could trim it down to suit as needed. Definitely leaving things as-is for now!

As for the BBFW I set it at or near 70* angle for now, as per https://occamsracers.com/2019/02/02/...ght-and-angle/

The occamsracers site is the bomb! So much excellent information! Most of my aero ideas come from there.
It's funny - you're dialing back the aero on your car and I'm getting ready to throw a 65" wing and a 6" splitter on mine. Heck, I'm considering including those little winglets on the splitter like the hypermiata has if I can get enough downforce on the back end to balance it out. Of course it's rapidly turning into a dedicated track car so the use case is completely different nowadays. I love your car though - it's always been an inspiration for me. And it's blue. Blue is Excellent.

Ha! I've just come to realize that I have my hands dipping into too many projects and while the higher horsepower time attack stuff is super fun, I just want cheap track time and tend to have just as much fun with 140hp. So goals are tentatively to track this thing occasionally, enjoy it on the streets when I'm not. Build my other silver Nb2 into a stripped track car (already has gutted interior), keep the 99 10AE and 323gtx's as dailies. And.. have an rx7?

And maybe I'll get my classic triumph going again, and eventually I'd like to build my second 323gtx into something cool. My mazda b2600i 4x4 just sits around most the time (I really want to turbo it), and I really should sell some things and buy something newer but I probably wont. None of any of this makes any sense when I think about it too hard but I am having fun with it, see my signature.
