Just out of curiosity, see you drive a gti as well, before your bearings got :ky: did you ever drag the gti and miata from light to light or not?If not what would you say were quicker and by what margin?:hustler:

shlammed 01-23-2011 08:32 PM

They are the same based in traction. Gti has it, miata doesn't with my stretched tire.

I need real wheels.

Managed to get the collector made today as well as cleaning up of my shop.

Pics!

Fuel rail extrusion is in, but not machined yet.

thasac 01-30-2011 08:38 PM

god ...RHD makes for some nice packaging.

Build is looking great. You've got me considering going the grey route when I respray my engine bay.

What brand catch can is that BTW? Is there some sort of v-band seal at the clamp or is it one piece?

astroboy 01-31-2011 06:54 AM

What! No pics of the collector? Is it not welded yet? Also where is this half boddle of jd I keep reading about :D

shlammed 01-31-2011 08:09 AM

Haha. The phone didn't want to take macro style shots in low light. I will take pics when I go out next.

kdc 02-02-2011 06:58 PM

thats an awesome wire tuck.. very clean.

shlammed 02-02-2011 09:33 PM

They are just hung over the fender right now.

This is a functional car. I'm not going to do dumb shot like relocating the fuse box to under the dash or in my wheel well

It will look clean still though. That is the goal here. It makes working on (non electrical) things much easier.

I am finishing the fit-up of the manifold sunday. I just need to fit the hood to make sure there are no issues with fitment before final welding.

Edit: who has an lc-1 controller mounted somewhere you can't see?
That shit is sore thumb status.

Dopest turbo placement ever...

astroboy 02-07-2011 08:03 AM

That looks mighty fine. The placement on the turbo looks quite good but I would put some sort of a heat shield between the hot side and the head just to be safe. How are you going to route the ic piping?

My lc1 controller is on the shelf but I am going to be mounting it in the cabin under the dash somewhere and getting rid of the extra wire

Braineack 02-07-2011 08:05 AM

why does that look so big for a 2871?

shlammed 02-07-2011 09:44 AM

Because it's a real Garrett. No chinacharger. :p

It's your standard 2871 Garrett. With a 0.86 hotside.
I will get a new grinder and finish mock up this weekend. I may be an elbow short though to finish the 4th runner.

viperormiata 02-07-2011 11:20 AM

Looking good :bigtu:

What material are you making the manifold out of?

shlammed 02-07-2011 12:00 PM

Material is 1-1/4" sh10 stainless.

The finish will be alot better when I clean it up prior to final welding which will give it that nice stainless color like you would see from other manifolds...

This. The 0.64 looks so small, you could easily confuse it for a 2560.

dgmorr 02-07-2011 01:32 PM

What does the bottom line of your catch can go to?

shlammed 02-07-2011 01:42 PM

What do you mean dg?

the container on the right with the lines is my power steering resevoir and associated lines to go to my power steering pump and my power steering cooler.

The catch can (beside it to the left) isnt hooked up yet, but will have 2 -12 fittings welded on the valve cover with a single -10an line plumbed into a slant fitting on the exhaust.
