haha, I thought that was your catch can. Didn't even occur to me that it was the PS reservoir. All I wondered was why your 'catch can' was going to the PS pump. Where did you get the AN adapters for the pump?

shlammed 02-07-2011 02:09 PM

I had them made at a local shop with a lathe for CHEAP.

Took them in a spare PS pump with an idea and new small allen head bolts for the pump and they made me an adapter.

The PS resevoir is nice being that it holds more fluid and is internally baffled.
I had an issue with the PS overheating and overflowing when tracking and i only once had that issue with the new setup. (without the cooler installed and being boosted)

this year with the power steering cooler i should be able to drive all day and never overheat the PS fluid.

Looks good. But please cross the lower line over the upper line before my OCD makes me go crazy.

shlammed 02-07-2011 02:25 PM

I will. ;)

Its not bolted to the firewall and the hoses arent hooked up... its just set in place for the time being.

Needs runner #4 to be finished and wastegate needs to be placed further from the turbo.

Very nice.

Looks like that VC hotside bung was just cockblocked :)

astroboy 02-13-2011 10:28 AM

That manifold is coming along really nicely. Lots of clearance, long runners, v band, and you have easy access to the exhaust studs. If I build a manifold I will probably copy yours ;)

Haha. Thanks

If you are interested, I canmake a copy.

I am interested but my build is on a budget and a new manifold is no needed to make my car go bang bang again. But fuck I would love one! Can't wait to see the final product.

Intercooler is in from ebay and the alternator is in thanks to Steve at panic motorsports.

I hope to mount this intercooler in a strange position but gain airflow from proper ducting.

Gotpsi? 02-18-2011 10:55 AM

That hot side looks really nice, keep up the good work.

shlammed 02-18-2011 11:03 AM

Thanks dude!
I am going on vacation to Naples, FL this week... so i wont get any fab done this week.

Going to look at a new tig when i come back too! Get a little more serious with a dystany 250 for the new fab services i hope to promote more in the near future.

In front of the windshield glass?

subie style!

haha no.

the charge pipes will be routed below the pop ups with the intercooler essentially right below the rad support.

i will experiment with this and i might run a second IAT sensor pre IC to determine if the intercooler is getting heat soaked and junk.

will be using 18 guage aluminum sheet for ducting of the front end coolers. (rad, power steering, intercooler and possibly down the line an oil cooler.)

Gotpsi? 02-18-2011 11:32 AM

It sure seems to make life easier to have a right hand drive car for hot side parts.

shlammed 02-18-2011 11:43 AM

im terms of BMC clearance, or steering shaft?

The miata steering shaft is far enough back that i wouldnt have associated many issues with it there...

Gotpsi? 02-18-2011 12:30 PM

It would be nice to have to not worry about heat for the MC, and my turbo clears the steering shaft just barely.

Yep, it's coming along with the manifolds I am building.

astroboy 02-27-2011 07:00 PM

I can dig it. You getting rid of the popups or getting a smaller filter? From the hole on your drivers side and what looks to be a clamp on the passenger side I am guessing the popups are a thing of the past and the covers will be attached to the hood.

Shots of finished manifold?

shlammed 02-27-2011 07:34 PM

popup function is gone. the hole on the driver side is just a peice of 3" tube i had so i can get an idea of what i need to do.
for now im using the stock headlights with the motors removed and bolted so they are always up.

finish welding of my manifold has been on the backburner so i can finish other peoples manifolds... right now is the big time of the year for people wanting to do this type of stuff in canada....pre season.
