Remove turbo from car, add to truck. That is what I did (sorta, I bought an Ecoboost F150).

I think a truck is definitely in my future. But I'm thinking V8 power. I like the ecoboost, but something about a V8...

If its going to be a daily, the 5.0L V8 is a little more fuel efficient from what I've seen in terms of numbers reported (my truck is an '14 FX4 and gets 17mpg in the winter and 18mpg in the summer, 14-15mpg towing). If you bump up to a 2015, you can look into the 2.7 Ecoboost which is supposed to be a more fuel efficient and still great torque for towing.

Started a little disassembly last night. Already gathering a little pile of parts.

Anyone have any advice on what to do for the tank vent when all this evap crap is removed? Just leave the hose VTA?

I extended it to the rear of the car at one point. More recently I ran it to the front wheel well in front of the wheel.

Both were VTA.

I vent mine to atmosphere. You could run the hose down to the barb on the subframe to help reduce some fumes.

Thanks guys. I figured it was that easy, but wanted to make sure. I put the little vented cap from the evap stuff on, but otherwise VTA.

So the X5 has a blown engine. Bearings are toast. Oil full of metal pieces.

So I did a thing the other night. Interior is a mess now. I might try to clean up the wiring. Seems like a lot of work though.

Finally figured out how to find the photos from Indy. Got one from the touring laps on the oval for now. Will probably buy some others.

Kmiata's post made me motivated to pull my engine out. Looks like I probably won't be able to sell it before their new swap kit is released though.

I got it all ready to come out, then decided it probably wasn't the best idea to start removing it at 11:30 last night. If everything works out, hopefully I'll get it out tonight.

Sounds like you should just buy my setup and make it easy for yourself. Engine, turbo kit, exhaust, and ecu for sale. Will write the post for MT soon.

I'm on the K24Z3 train as well. Currently looking to pick up a couple engines but the junkyards around me don't have many under 100k miles.

Subscribed.

There's around 8 at a junkyard around me. I'll share my source after I pick mine up.
