Here is part 2 of the head swap. If you watch it you'll see exactly when the head cracked. Also there is a nice virtual dyno pull in it where I made 401whp according to VD before I parked the car waiting for a head that's not cracked.

Make sure you vacuum and clean the living hell out of the pistons and bores after using scotchbrite pads. The particles from those are notorious for destroying engines prematurely.

Yea I cleaned everything really well afterwards. Made sure the bores were spotless.

I don't know who Bryan is, but the Kraken gift is super! Should be an interesting comparison.

Bryan is my buddy who films me. He used to have a drag Miata wayyyyyy back in the day, ran 100+mph in the 1/8 mile.

Yes the kraken gift is amazing and I'm super pumped on it.

Went big this time for the hg. This is a sce cut ring hg. It's composite with SS rings for the cylinders. BMW guys who use MLS and blow them swear by these. I'm gonna do 70ftlb on the studs this next time with a fresh head and the kraken low mount setup. Should be interesting to see the gains over the FM stuff.

SCE vulcan cut ring hg, I plan to have no more head gasket issues.

SS rings that bite just enough to create a really good seal between the cylinders. Composite material for the rest of the gasket.

Superb descision, Andy. I'm about to boost my E36 in the future and read so much good things about cut ring head gaskets. That's the way I'll go, when the time comes, maybe on the Miata AND E36.
They do 500whp on these with stock engines, seems to work very very good.

Kraken is going to be awesome, I have ordered a new compressor wheel for my (on the shelf) GTX2860R Gen2 and also have a Kraken (top mount) kit. I'm very interested to see our comparsion,
because I have some unknown BP05 head on my car, which looks more like a BP4W (cam caps, casting, but it says a number after BP05 I just can't match with any of the results after searching).

But I swear, my **** flows amazing! I had a corrected 300whp run last weekend on my 2560 just like you, 1:1 gear, weighed my car EXACTLY on a calibrated scale, this is no bullshit
Can't wait to put this GTX on it

Heck yea man if you are making near 300whp on a 2560 then you are getting good efficiency with your setup. When you go GTX I bet you'll be making damn near the same power as me. We should share VD runs to compare!

If I can squeeze out 330whp without creating tons of heat, I would be a very happy dude. I'll try to limit torque to roughly 300ft lbs and hold it as best as I (or it) can to the limiter, don't want to break 6 speeds all day long

Where did you get that? I was going to order one of those along with some hardblok last week and it looked like both jegs and summit were back ordered. Did you get the last one?

Yes, I too thought the same as you their ship date shows April 28. But I called SCE and they have them in stock, they ship each one individually to summit when you order. Mine took 2 weeks to arrive. Email or call SCE and they will confirm they have the part then order through summit, and copy your invoice and send that to SCE so they can ship it.

Installing supertech heavy doubles, bp5a intake cam, shimming etc

Head ready to go. 5 angle and back cut on stock valves, radium rail, 750cc injectors

SCE Vulcan HG.

Kraken low mount, gtx2860r gen2 with arashi wheel and housing, stage 8 lock nuts.

Finished product, still need to fab the titanium intake and air box.

Finally got around to installing the new head, kraken low mount, etc. The car is running amazing now and we will have a video out on it soon that will go through the whole turbo install and some pulls and virtual dyno numbers. I'll post the video here when we go live with it
