Still can't believe it took you this long to dive into ebc!

Was so frustrating to tune the pid of it at first when I didn't know what I was doing at all and then became less frustrating with practice and a lot of help.

The wisecos that came out of the engine I could have reused bc they were in that good of shape but they were a 84mm bore and I went to 84.5mm this time around. I've had such good luck with wiseco I see no reason to run anything else especially not supertech bc IMO they are far far inferior to wisecos
Thanks Andy, you've convinced me. I've ordered 84mm 8.5 Wiseco's for my built engine.

Just saw your latest YouTube video and your struggle fitting the Kraken low mount manifold was reminiscent of my own experience! It is a tight fit! Worth it for the extra performance, though.

Really interesting you were able to get more ignition timing in compared with the FM manifold. Your car sounds amazing.

It is a tight fit but totally worth it. So I have some bad news my turbo took a **** on me. I was tuning the EBC and it was 5th gear at 6000rpm holding 25psi... The turbo compressor wheel just took a bite out of the housing and then the chra just failed and it was a smoke show behind me. It was late at night and I made the mistake of driving about 6 miles back to my house. The car burned like 2qts of oil in that time and when I drained the oil it looked not the best but not the worst......I already have a gtx2867 that I'm gonna be fitting to replace the 2860, but the bigger issue is with the motor. I pulled the cam caps and they look great, but I'm not sure about the main/rod bearings. I'm gonna start it and let it run then drain the oil again and check for metal. I might be pulling the engine out to refresh the bottom end not sure yet.

Hey Andy, sorry to hear that... Maybe you got lucky, my dad accidently drove his old bus with about 1/2 of the oil inside for like 50 miles and it survived! Remember that it didn't run all that long without far too little oil, the first few miles must have been with a somewhat okay oil level.

Do you think, that it bit the dust, because you havn't had someone balance the assembly after changing the compressor wheel? I remember asking you a few months ago and right now I'm happy to say, that I have a balanced CHRA

I think it has everything to do with the unbalanced chra. It was fine for a long time but I was getting 25psi at high rpm and I bet the compressor saw a blade rpm that was higher than it's ever been and that imbalance reared its ugly head.

unfortunately no. Lol. I did the low boost setting 18 psi ramping up to 20psi. Then I went to do high Boost I got in like 2 pulls and then the turbo just ate itself alive. If my engine is infact ok this GTX 2867 should be nice.

Pulsar😬 Mike at kraken is a dealer I got it for 500 bucks or so. I thought I'm gonna give it a shot and see how it does. Especially since I'm not sure if my engine is ok right now

I've just recently heard about these Pulsar turbos. Was your previous turbo a genuine Garret? Keep us posted, and sorry to hear about the (more) carnage.

My original 2860 was used, it started life as a gen1 GTX but I removed the compressor housing and wheel and swapped over arashi wheel and housing. Arashi is another company who makes very high quality copies of Garrett stuff. I then ran this turbo for a year before it bit the dust last week. The pulsar stuff is definitely a very very good copy but I'll be interested to see how it performs, there isn't really any reason why it shouldn't act exactly like a Garrett looking at the thing its actually really nice.

Finished putting the car back together yesterday. Let me say this....I had at least a quart of oil in my intercooler. I pulled all the pipes and flushed everything out. I ran two cycles of oil through the engine to pull out most of the muck. Then I filled with vr1. Upon first start the oil pressure was 85psi and it remained strong as the car warmed up. Tons of residual oil smoke burned for the first 30 minutes so me and my buddy decided to hop on the interstate.....

Upon entering the interstate we are greeted by a dodge charger so he wanted a piece and I obliged by rolling him up. Not 5 minutes later modded f80 m3 wanted some and I rolled him up as well. So the car seems to be ok lol. Only time will tell though

I haven't logged it yet. I need to actually add a little tension to the wg it's spooling about 400rpm slower than the 2860 so it's hitting full boost around 3900-4300. The turbo feels really good after 5500 where the 2860 was getting really high IAT. Once I log it I can compare to the 2860 and see where they stack up.

Got a chance to datalog it tonight. Its running 18psi tapering up to 21psi by redline. I could turn it up more but the Deals Gap trip is coming up and I dont want to blow it up lol. The 2867 spools quite a bit slower but makes more power afrer 5500 rpm with less boost and lower IAT. The spool is slower but its still very good overall. This turbo feels like a ,86 hotside. Its stamped .64 but it was physically larger than the garrett housing so who knows, So far the Pulsar turbo is doing quite well but only time will tell the full story.

Looks a little like my 6758 spool up (pulsar seems a littttttle later, but not terribly so) — good stuff Andy!

Yea to be honest the only thing that is slighty disappointing about this turbo is the spool. Im used to my 2860 hitting HARD at like 3600-3700 this turbo is about 500rpm behind it. Im gonna add some tension to the wg and see if spool will pick up. I already have the EBC holding the WG closed until 17psi so this might just be how it wants to spool.
