well it's certainly not the same as the photo! I think you'd be justified in sending it back. Wow. That'll cool the air alright...

Cool, thanks man! I guess your IATs aren't enough of a problem to consider upgrading the intercooler though, wonder if they just changed manufacturers or something somewhere down the line.

I can't imagine this thing doing much other than look cool, and I didn't even want it for that. Damn ebay

After heatsoak my IAT's are consistently +20ish ambient, so no I haven't worried about it. IAT sensor is just before the elbow into the manifold itself.

Edit: a bonus of the rotrex is the rediculously low contribution to IAT.

$68 is tough for me to argue to quibble about ... I would say just run it, everything will probably be fine. My quick mt.net search didn't yield an intro or build thread for you, so I gots no idea what power goals you have. If you're look for a 300 whp or more build, this is probably not the intercooler for you, there are better resources from mt.net vendors for those power levels.

Imho, there is no way that intercooler you got will cool as well (or at all), compared to the 'original' delta fin that a lot of other people are running. I don't know if you got a knock-off (not that there is a 'real' one) or what, but I ordered one a few months ago and received the 'proper' one and it's working quite nicely on a friend's Exocet.

I haven't yet started a build thread just yet, but I'm shooting for numbers just north of what most would probably run without a intercooler, something like 175-200 from a 1.6 with a baby t3 50 trim. Though I'll probably only run "8psi" churbo wastegate for quite a while.

Maybe I should finally start a build thread instead of just posting everywhere lol Sorry for the derail

I can't imagine that this one will cool much at all either, but it's interesting you got a decent one just a few months ago. I might see what it takes to send this thing back, shipping is probably not cheap. Guess that's part of the gamble sometimes

Default Updates and new shinies in the world of Mobius

Updates. Things are happening in the garage of Mobius.

Driving Season

The track and autocross season has ended. I briefly entertained thoughts of Season Championship Glory for autocross with the Oregon PCA. Had I won Non-Porsche-RWD yesterday I could have been points leader depending on the finish of others. However, those dreams were dashed when real autocrossers showed up, with their damn Hoosiers. Hoosiers! NEMESIS! One day you will be mine ... precious ... Seriously, the next full autocross season I get (which may be 2016, or 2017, depending) A6's on a set of 9's are going on my car. If I use my track slicks for autocross I'll have to buy another set of tires midway through the season anyway, so if I'm already buying two sets of tires, **** it. Goin' sticky.

Results have not been posted but I believe I was third, probably putting me third for season. I'll take it having only made 5 of 9 events. I also learned something yesterday - DO NOT agree to instruct three (3!) novices in the same run group as you. Holy ****. Getting strapped in and being late to the start line is Epic Fail for the mental zen-fest you need to properly focus and attack an autocross course. Never again. I will instruct all they want in the run groups, but in my run group, it's one or none.

I learned this year that Toyo RR's are much stickier for autocross than either RS3's or Rivals. Might seem like a no-brainer, but it's nice to have validation.

Projects

Due to this and that, I took last winter completely off from car projects. That shall not be the case this winter. The things that are happening this winter in the garage of Mobius - new shinies!
  • Reverant MS3! order placed!
  • CNC head! order placed! with subs for 8k RPM goodness!
  • V8 Roadsters lower control arms! Order placed! For stronger, and for more cambers.
  • Installation of my reroute (purchased 12/09, lol)
  • Singular Motorsports hood louvers! I have a spare hood for this.
  • Front Splitter! 3/8" birch plywood as ordained by the gods

I've been running 2.5 camber up front, and can't get any more without lowering the car more, and it's as low as I want to take it. So LCA's it is.

Optional Projects

Depending on stuff, and whether I get any more budget, I want to do a squaretop manifold with a BOV welded to it. We'll see.

Ooh. I am interested but may not have funds until Christmas. I literally emptied the piggy bank and made bacon from the shattered remnants.

Dyno today was 193whp / 156 wtq. Right at what I expected. He ran it to about 6900; so at fuel cut it should be right at 200.

LC-1 in the car always read low 11's on track. The O2 sensor has died, new one isn't here yet, so I didn't bother to record today with the gopro. Tailpipe sniffer is always leaner, though.

Once the MS3 goes in I'll bother to actually tune it beyond "it runs and don't blow up."

Bears an uncanny resemblance to my 1.6 turbo numbers after I opened up the exhaust:

Curious about the wavy boost line. Is that normal?
